She received severe brain trauma after getting the hell beaten out of her by Pluto that was slowly killing her. Fighting Guido accelerated said trauma to the point where it killed her.

The best thing about the book are its covers. Other than that, it seems fairly average...which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
