Which begs the question, if the lieutenants are on a par with Blue Marvel, what the heck are the rest of the team supposed to be doing. Unless Tom De Falco is writing and he's reminiscing about...
...couldn't we have both?
...except when Kevin Grievoux stated BM was "more powerful than Superman but less powerful than Thor".
...Thor has far more abilities, we just never see them in team books where its 'Hammer;...
Certainly Blue Marvel is a bit of a blank slate at this stage. But is making him LESS powerful, what the fans really want? While I would agree the dichotomy of power levels in this book is bordering...
I'd rather have Blue Marvel go on some (Sentry-esque) fan polarising story arcs rather than rot in development Hell.
It is bizarre.
Definitely.
I'm more concerned about the team dynamic.
- Cage = Mid-tier brick
- Shulkie = Mid/Upper-tier brick
- Spidey = Mid-tier Dodger
- Iron Fist = Street/Mid-tier Dodger
- Songbird = Mid/Upper-tier...
Okay, Blue Marvel - now I'm interested in this...assuming its not Bendis penned that is. Please say it isn't so.
...and who says Marvel never listens to its fans. :D
This.
Definitely picking this up.
This.
Definitely picking this up.
I'm enjoying the book. Its beautiful, evocative, poetic and interesting.
...one aspect its lacking in though is excitement. The story is so decompressed that action elements are few and far...
Good luck to Jason and Ron with the Accursed arc.
That cover is utterly AWESOME!! (Love these action covers that are RELEVANT to the story). If the interior art is half as good as that cover then...
Of course they can. But the more diverse the supporting cast the wider its appeal and its easier to relate through association in this case, rather than say the heroic, male-model-esque; nightclub...
Definitely going to get this. Just deciding whether to go comic or trade routes.
Can't say I'm surprised. Glad to be giving this a miss. Got burnt by Bendis SO many times in the past - he ALWAYS disappoints. I'll never buy another Bendis book.
Bendis is the ABSOLUTE WORST...
Never been a fan of Green Arrow in comics but I must say I am really enjoying Arrow. Brilliant casting with a solid mixture of action and drama. Couldn't have asked for a better interpretation of the...
Actually I think we have got sidetracked away from the point I was specifically making which is comics making a paradigm shift from tried and tested staples of good storytelling. Far less so from any...
Firstly, I already said that creators could (and should) have greater freedom when books were not performing as well as they might.
Secondly, few (if any) of the above franchises were top sellers...
I disagree. You have stated previously that you like to dwell on decompressed panels to search for nuances in the story. So its clear you purposefully take your time with such a comic. If its taking...
Hello again, interesting discussion.
Some people are optimistic: "Okay so I don't like the first handful of issues BUT it might get better."
Others are pessimistic: "That preview sucks, no...
If you have read a title for several years then you know the broad strokes of what that character (or team) is about and the kind of general stories they are likely to have.
Similarly if you have...
Maybe instead of having AVENGERS at the top of the comic we should just have "HICKMAN" (no hyphen) and the cover can just be an artists rendition of Jonathan Hickman as various characters (Ego for...
I know. I'm trying to pick up stuff outside my normal 'comfort zone' to widen my scope, as well as analyzing the 'classics' to understand what makes them tick and all the while devouring the genre...
I stopped buying Events after Fear Itself. It was dreadful (nice art though).
Its become apparent that Marvel are never going to NOT have an event, so they should probably just make a new ongoing...
Totally agree with everything you said but especially the above remarks.
Most Marvel creators do not create 'comics' anymore. They create trade paperbacks which are then sliced (thinly) into...
