I saw a link to this story the last day or so as well. If it's true, it was postulated that they may have been pages from a Dr. Strange story Ditko was working on when he left Marvel.
So, is Jack Davis the only guy who did covers for all three?
True, but I remember an item in The Comic Reader in the 70s saying Ditko was going to start drawing on larger boards to recapture the detail he used to put in to the work or soemthing like that.
Assembling all of Severin's Cracked work would be a huge collection. I think all that's been done are various reprint magazines from Cracked (often focusing on monsters)
I'd like to see a...
Hmmm--FF 82 is dated January '69, so the smaller size would've been in place a year or more when Kirby drew it.
I wonder how the timeframe corresponds to DC and Marvel going to smaller sized art boards, which might also affect how he laid out the pages.
Sure--maybe even $18 (though it would mean making change).
Here's another one that bugged me: I had a stack of EC reprints for $1 each. Guy comes up, "are these really a dollar?" Yes, that's what...
I agree with this (speaking from the other side of the table). If someone has 22 dollar books, I'll say "just give me $20." Actually, I was playing with establishing a "no change given" policy--if...
Maybe he's just wants to find out if he's a natural greenhead.
Looks like Cole swiped part of this from the great Jon Whitcomb.

They actually started w/ True Ghost Stories--these two are the only war issues. As you said, the others were True Ghost, True Demons & Monsters, and True Weird Stories.
(Being a lot more skeptical...
For a second I thought Kurt was going to answer Dru's question.
Looking back, it's sometimes surprising how long some genre books lasted into the Bronze Age. Even when Atlas launched, they felt...
Didn't know this was coming out. Tempting...
There are a lot of post-war Spirit where the Spirit is an incidental character, at best. They're still pretty good stories.
Your mixing up scripting and dialoguing. Kirby may not have had Lee's ear for snappy banter, but was great at plotting, pacing, defining and revealing characters through action... And Ditko was...
I couldn't agree more.
Yeah, I just finished reading Chaykin's original article as well. For years, I've wanted to see a book on DC in the 50s-60s-early 70s dealing with the company and the business, and less about the...
The speculator market never died out, but I think after the early 90s bust publishers started to focus a little more on content of the books than on creating books specifically to fuel the boom.
Sometimes they may have also used "house names."
Editors were usually listed in the indicia from the earliest days. Some books also, i think, had traditional mastheads on the inside cover.
The...
I think Stan had been 'signing' stories in the Atlas era, maybe earlier.
As far as cover credits, I think that started with DC in the mid-80s or so as a regular thing. Before that, here was...
Where does that put me? I've resolved never to pay more than $5 for a back issue.
You call that a superheroine outfit? She'd hardly showing any skin!
Yeah--he's too nice a guy to be a successful dealer.
Just noting that only retailers with $1 million or more in annual sales will have to comply.
