The theory I have seen on another board is that they didn't want to have a brown skinned man crashing a star ship into skyscrapers in the post 9/11 world.
1 Irrelevant it wasn't what he looked like on screen. Which is what you were arguing when you starting raving about the knowing more than the historian.
2 How many times do I need to put look like...
Don't be silly. That looks nothing like the Khan in Space Seed or TWOK. That is what counts not what some historian thought he should look like but what he actually DID on screen.
Fantastic movie, it puts IM3 to shame!
Why does Margo Lane look nothing like she did last issue? Does the artist know she is a brunette? I got 11&12 today and that was a total wtf? I wasn't even sure it supposed to be Margo until I came...
Looks great to me!
Yes but he is hardly there because of so many characters. It would be better to have a team up like the shadow/GH one. But they have no incentive to do that as it won't help the ongoing series set in...
If only the Spider were set in the 1930's then he could have team ups too. :frown:
It doesn't have to resolve anything. IIRC the original was treated as a dream. This was not and I have read it is a more faithful adaptation of the books.
Doubtful, it's only an 8 issue mini anyway.
That just shows you have no idea what you are talking about. How exactly would:
The Spider being the city's only hope against a series of villains that are willing and able to kill thousands to...
You make it sound like getting one punched is better than losing an extended fight. It's not, he dropped Kato like a cheap thug.
That line of thinking is directly contradicted by the writer using the Shadow being like Superman as the justification for him totally outclassing Kato at his own specialty. I have been reading...
No complaining about stupid writing is never silly. Having a "Superman" usually makes things worse. When the writer has the attitude this one displays, it always makes things worse by belittling...
I am aware of those points. However in the case of both Kata and the Shadow they are using their most iconic traits. For the Shadow that is his mental powers which were not in the pulps anymore than...
I found this part idiotic:
Roberson said that it’s been interesting to see fan reaction to the series. For example, when the Shadow beats up Kato in the story, readers really seemed to get upset...
Ok, the original BSG by DnA, count me in!
I endorse this post. You get more story from a Spider pulp than many comic issues and if you but the ebooks they cost less than a single comic issue. Also a new anthology is coming out from...
I think the Spider would sell better as a period piece.
No they don't need to be set in the present. The Shadow comic is doing fine set in the past.
The Shadow, the Rocketeer and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow were all pulp inspired and very enjoyable to me as a pulp fan.
Oh and the Phantom had a pulpy feel to it as well.
Way to totally ignore all of his points. Why did you even respond if you were going to do that?
Incidentally I also started reading the Spider with the 1980's reprints and no I am not in my 50's....
I mentioned earlier that I wouldn't shed any tears if the book was cancelled even though I buy it. A pulp I just finished rereading today gives a good reason why. In Hordes of the Red Butcher
...
Probably annually which would explain them saying sales need to go up by #12.
