Great article! It echos a lot of my own feelings about the X-Franchise and feminism.

I don't agree that Armor was initially token. Whedon pushed that character really hard during that run (a lot more than anybody's interest in the character justified), trying to make her Wolverine's...
Not that writing one or two minorities un-whitewashes Whedon's run, but he introduced both Armor and Kavita Rao who have both been long lasting minority X-Characters.
Also, I agree about Kitty....
*Throws up in mouth just a little... flavor reminds me of Chuck Austin's run on Uncanny X-Men*
Austin? ...AUSTIN?! We are talking about Chuck Austin right? The author of the absolute worst run in X-Men history? Not that you aren't allowed to like absolutely god-awful things, but it certainly...
For the life of me, I just can't understand why anybody hasn't read his run on Uncanny X-Force...
This issue finally won me over on this series. The opening red-skull story felt forced and unnatural, and was mired in delays. A couple of issues after that were good reads, particularly the Thor...
Opus, you aren't a bigot because you are a Christian. Plenty of Christians actually follow the spirit of their faith and love their neighbors. You are using Christianity to justify a brand of bigotry...
Amazing the way that folks like Opus, and Orson Scott Card can paint themselves as victims for continuing to systematically disenfranchise entire groups of people based on arbitrary traits like...
That is completely different. Nowhere on the list does he say not to dislike something because a creator is outspokenly bigoted. It is socially productive to criticize Card. It is a waste of time to...
On both points, I was thinking the same thing.
I'm flabbergasted by the fact that so many people seem to have a distaste for this run so far. I am more excited by this book than I have been by any superhero book since Morrison's X-Men, And Ellis'...
Agree!!!!!
This makes me want to track down the old New Universe comics. Knowing Hickman, he's probably going to be meticulously utilizing them and I bet this will read even better with a bit more knowledge of...
I can understand why Scott and Emma might need a break, given what they did to each other in AvX. But splitting them up for good is a huge waste of one of the most inspired pairings in comics....
I agree that this series tends to cram a lot of crazy plot in, and can definitely use a breather every now and then, but didn't we just get a breather in the previous issue with the "date night"...
I'm sure it has been said in this thread already (I don't really want to wade through 19 pages of thread to make sure), but I think Cyclops has put Magneto up to whatever he is doing with Shield. If...
What a sad joke this production continues to be. Scripts get scrapped and rewritten all of the time, but this news in light of the recent development that the film only moves forward if Man of Steel...
Yeah, that was Empress Lilandra, and those scenes were taken from New X-Men #122 way back in 2002. *Spoilers* I think that Smasher died two issues later in #124.
I'm not as well versed with DC perhaps. Obviously Hyperion is a Superman analogue. Who is Smasher an analogue for?
Loved this issue. I loved the shout out to Morrison/Quitely/New X-Men in the origin of the new Smasher (even lifting panels and dialogue from New X-Men in a flashback). I've felt for a while that...
I've really been looking forward to this, and this preview art looks like it has been well worth the wait. Great to see the band back together years after their "Authority" run. I'm a little...
Funny, I still hear his voice from X-Men The Animated Series from the 90s! Same with all the X-Men actually.
I've never seen "Revenge" but this woman definitely has the look to pull of Sharon Carter. I'm a bit concerned that none of the reports I've seen about casting this role mention the character by...
Maaaaan. I have very mixed feelings on this. On the one hand, JJ on Star Wars is probably one of the best ways to make the new movies not suck. But I really wish we had gotten a third Star Trek out...
