Dear Mr. Brubaker,
What's this I hear about you killing off Diamondback soon? If true, we are all awaiting this issue with baited breath!
Heeey that ain't nice, I mean Diamondback is a good character that got saddled with a rather dubious (this is me being polite here) wardrobe, I mean wall to wall shag carpeting and faux wood panels were considered good at one time (shaking head as I'm typing), but the time for shag carpeting has long gone (thank god for that). Which brings me to my question(s) for you Mr.Brubaker: Will Diamondback (if she is used for CA:Shock to the System, btw Pat Zircher's noir-esque art is damn incredible) have an updated look that will shed her of the "Mary Kay Commando" look (sorry S/D but I will agree to disagree with you that pink is a good look for the character, muted violet maybe, but pink, uhhh no)
And will you be working with Chris Samnee, or Francesco Francavilla post Captain America and Bucky ? (They are both talented artists)
Thank you very much for the response if you respond, Kudos to you.

Hey Axel,
I remember reading an interview with Dan Slott where he mention that at the end o his "Ends of the Earth" Story line Amazing Spider-man would be ending. I have not bought Spider-man for a long while but i just wanted to know if after AVX and Ends of the Earth we can expect some more Spider-man with some Diversity in the Story telling style. Like the re-turn of Marvel Knights spider-man or sensational Spider-man with a different take on Spidey in each book. Possible maybe?

My question concerns Maria Hill's overall character and origin...
Given her upcoming appearance in the live action Avengers movie for Marvel, when are we going to see some of the spotlight shine on Maria Hill ?
I mean as readers of Marvel Comics, there isn't a lot to said about her because we know so little about her.
I mean where is her origin storyline ?
Why was Maria Hill given the job to be the Avengers lasion, especially given her actions in the previous Civil War event ?
Will we ever get a chance to know Maria Hill better outside of the Movies ?

Hey Axel,
Don't know how much involvement you personally had in the upcoming Ultimate Spidey cartoon, but curious if the new Power Man (Victor Alvarez) had any influence on the character design of the teenage version of Power Man/Luke Cage appearing in the show?
-
Hello Axel,
With higher profile x-characters like Polaris and Havok back on X-Factor might we see them play a bigger role in mutant related events?
Wanda and Polaris are Marvel's two highest profile sisters and they have big issues to resolve. Might we see a confrontation between them of sorts down the road?
-
Could you quit teasing me with his ghostly appearances?
Just tell me when Sean Cassidy is returning, so I can again read the x men line.
It seems easy for editorial to forget that readers may have invested years in a favorite character;
Tossing them aside should not be easy.

Hey Axel,
Comic Related Questions
Is there any chance we will see former Ultimate Fantastic Four Members Sue and Ben show up in the new Ultimate Comics? I'm sure they would be interested to know about Reed as the Maker of the Children of Tomorrow and Johnny's whereabouts. I was also thinking since Sue is a biotechnologist, Fury could get her to come in and help analyze Miles. She could give an explanation as to how his abilities work and maybe even discover those webshooters that he so desperately needs. *wink* *wink*
Following the Spider-Man related questions. When can we expect to hear some new information about "Spider-Men"?
Lastly, with Ultimate Hawkeye finished are there plans for another Ultimate Universe Mini-series?
Other Media
Do you think in the next 3 or 4 years, once the Ultimate Comics line has been fleshed out more, we will see a video game based in that world? Outside of the Ultimate Spider-Man game released some years ago we've only seen that Universe revisited briefly in Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions. These days many video games based on Marvel properties are tied to films. It would be nice to have a game just made from the ground up with the characters and universe in mind.

Will the android Torch's (Jim Hammond) long-time partner Toro be approached to join one of the numerous Cyclops or Wolverine X-men teams? I am surprised the Mutant Community has ignored him with their population so low.

I want to re-echo this question as I raised a similar scenario in January:
Digressing from Hammond a bit, but where is Toro now? He's a mutant, would he fit in either X-Men team? That way all three original Silver Age teams (FF, Avengers, X-Men) will have a Torch. It would be awkward if he does join up and then sees Hammond on the other side.
Any thoughts on adding Marvel AR (or maybe Infinite) to other non-traditional platforms?
For instance, the Nintendo 3DS does some neat stuff with AR and it might be fun to throw in something for that. I'm sure the PSP Vita could do similar.
Please say yes.

My questions concern diversity, youthful mutants and alternate realities...
1. Given everything that has happen to him since he joined the New Avengers in 2005, why hasn't there been any kind of on-going series for Luke Cage ?
I ask this as an African American reader to Marvel comics and a fan of the character. I mean, given his current position in the Marvel Universe, it would be interesting to see how a man like Cage deals with his current lifestyle, right ?
2. Given everything that has happen to them, why hasn't there been any chances of showing an on-going series about one of the young X-men and how they deal with the status quo on their own terms, outside X-23 and Pixie recent mini-seires ?
I ask this due to the constant apperance of the X-men called Surge and how much she has suffered the past few years. I mean she is so much like Rouge and Storm given her attitude and she has so much potentinal as a heroine in her own right, right ?
3. I was once told that the "no more Mutants" spell has affected alternate realities, but outside of the current Age of Apocalypse on-going series, there has been little news with how that spell worked across other alternate futures. So I'm asking that during the midst of Avengers vs X-men, couldn't we get a one-shot and/or mini-series showing just how much damage the "no More mutant" spell affected the alternate worlds and maybe show the importance and dire chance for the Marvel heroes to fix this ?

Will there be an Illuminati tie-in for AvX?

With Captain Marvel, Marvel will return a female ongoning series and Carol Danvers will have a major rol in Marvel universe, but will have more female series for example to Spider-woman? Will she have a major rol in the universe marvel too in the future?.
THANKS.

Hi Axel. To follow up on a question you've answered a few times before, when can we expect to see last year's new launches like Wolverine & the X-Men or Ultimates available from Marvel's subscription service? You previously said it would be the end of December (2011) and then the end of February, but nothing new has been added yet. Hopefully it will be sometime soon. Thanks.
-
Hey Axel, with avengers Vs x-men being centered around hope and her possible involvement in the destruction of the world ..i guess. Will we get a return of Bishop? after all he was the first one to try and kill Hope in order to avoid a disaster, plus i really like Bishop so what do you say any Bishop coming soon?

Q: Can somebody fix the blogs problem on Marvel.com? It won't let people post new comments.

Hi Axel,
As always thanks for answering my questions.
The new Ultimate Universe has been underway for a little under a year now. So I wanted to ask with the recent announcements of Sam Humphries and Brian Wood taking over the Ultimates and Ultimate X-Men respectively, have you found it difficult to maintain the cohesiveness of the new Ultimate Universe?
In previous interviews it has been said that Miles will be drawn into the world of the Ultimates. Currently they are dealing with very large threats on multiple fronts with the Children in Europe, the People in the SEAR and even the Nimrod Sentinel outbreak in America. This would seem quite dangerous for the young and inexperienced Miles to become entangled in. Will we see Miles continue to train for a while before you starts encountering the Ultimates more? I bet Ganke has some great ideas to figure out how Miles powers work and just how to train them. Complete with "Eye of the Tiger" montage.
Over in Scarlet Spider Chris Yost has introduced an all new villain for Kaine to battle. Will we continue to see Ultimate Versions of 616 Villians or can we look forward to seeing original villains in Miles' rogue gallery? I would like to see the Queen introduced at some point. Which villain would you like to see Ultimatized Axel?
When will we hear some more information about the upcoming Spider-Men mini-series?
-
Now that it's been announced that Route 666 and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang will not be released in the forseeable future, are there still any plans for the Crossgen line or characters? Perhaps with a different approach than the previous minis (for example-digital exclusives, or having some of the CG characters appear in the Marvel Universe)?
-
Hey, Axel,
Will we ever see Herc or any of the Greek mythology characters in the marvel universe, anytime soon? I really love the modern take on those characters, especially Herc and Athena.
-
Greetings, Fair Alex,
I'd like to ask two things:
1- Is the Scarlet Witch still able to repower the depowered mutants that the No More Mutants spell affected like she did with Rictor, or after losing her connection with the life force she is unable to accomplish this?
2-Is Elixir (Joshua Foley) returning anytime soon?
Thank you very much.

Hi Axel
Cann you reveal when Zeb Wells and Joe Madureira will be returning to Avenging Spider Man for the Elektra and Wolverine team up? It's been months since we last saw Elektra and its killing me waiting for her Zeb scripted return!

Hey Axel,
I am a big Fan of the dearly departed series Black Panther : Man without Fear/Most Dangerous man alive. I know the series was just canceled and so it might be to early to start any kind push for a return or relaunch but i don't really care. I want you guys to Bring Back Black Panther Man Without Fear. I can't tell you how much i love that series, and it deeply disappoints me that a series (a damn good one) Starting a minority character could not find an audience. I don't want to know how you feel about the minority aspect of that series i feel that subject has been talked about so many times and no change really comes from the fan base. what i would like to know is how dose the failure of a series affect how marvel approaches characters and concepts such as Black Panther or Moon Knight for that matter in other mediums? P.S Bring Back Black Panther: Man without Fear!
-
Hey Axel
Do you guys have any plans for any of the Supreme Universe Characters ether as a collective or as individuals? I see that Owls seem to be a popular theme around crime fighting vigilantes. I wonder of maybe we can see a retooled Night-owl make a come back maybe with a gritty action adventure book?
-
Since some time has passed since the Wolverine/Sabretooth reborn project was announced can you give us an update on its status? Should we expect the storyline to appear in the current ongoing Wolverine title or as its own separate mini?

Hey Axel,
Brian Wood is taking over X-men in June. Looking at the solicits it looks like both Jubilee and Warpath are nowhere to be found. Will they still be active characters in the X-Universe and where can we find them?
-
Dear Axel,
1) Will we ever hear from MC2 again?
2) How much longer until we hear about Age of Ultron?
3) Will Songbird and Diamondback ever team up?

Hello Axel,
Jonathan Hickman said in his ask Axel interview that his upcoming two parter Black Panther story in Fantastic Four sets up big end of the year plans. Any hints as to what those plans are?
-
Hey Axel,
The whole reason I was reading "X-Men" was of course to see one of my favorite characters in action. I recently read in a Brian Wood interview for wondercon that editorial decided to take Jubilee off the team. Where can I look for her next? Can I get a book where I see her on a regular basis? I understand that some characters are more popular but I feel that the x-men have too many books with repeat characters. Can we get a book dedicated to the teen x-men? Or x-men that don't always get the limelight?

I would like to follow up something mr Alonso said last week:
"We've talked in the past about the potential for miniseries these days and what makes them work. Is this project indicative of what you see in the future for the form if fans support it?
Alonso: It is. We went through a period where we had too many limited series that were set in continuity but weren't viewed as being "essential." As a result, excellent series like "Vengeance," "Five Ronin," and "Marvel Universe Vs. Wolverine," which has been nominated for the prestigious Bram Stoker Award, received critical acclaim, but kinda-sorta got lost in the shuffle and received only mid-circling numbers. We learned from that and we're being highly selective about the number of limited series we do, and we're taking great pains to message why they're special. "Space: Punisher" is a prime example of this."
If Marvel are prepared to set mini-series out of continuity then why did you betray the fans who invested in "All-Winners Squad: Band of Heroes"? We (myself and other fans) embarked on collecting this mini on the unambiguous understanding that it would last for 8 issues, by not delivering Marvel failed to deliver on a contract they entered with their customers.
You say you will invest in mini-series like the PUNISHER IN SPACE (or, indeed INFERNAL MAN-THING) if the fans ask after them, but how can fans be expected to infest in any mini-series if there is no gurantee that it will reach the end?
On a personal level, I still feel cheated by the cancellation of the last 3 issues and on a professional level, I do not follow Marvel's logic. I do not have anything against Marvel doing mini-series like PUNISHER IN SPACE (indeed I approve of NMarvel exploring more odd ideas) but how can they commit to one series when they have either cancelled half-way through or canceleld before the first issue is produced.
Thanks for taking the time to (hopefully) expalin the thinking.
James.

Q: Will fans be seeing some Captain America vs. Dr. Doom in the new seasons of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes?
-
Hey Axel,
Will we see any more Ultimate Captain America Solo series in the future?
-
Are non-x-men/avengers going to get put the the back burner for a while amidst this huge event? I myself am worrying about Marvel's vampires/foreign characters.
-
Dear Mr. Alonso,
Regarding AvX... I'm not that invested as to which side Wolverine and Storm will fall into. What I really want to know is...
Will Lockheed side with Bill the Lobster and Eany & Meany against his fellow Pet Avengers?
True Marvel fans surely find this the most pressing question.
P.S. Bring back The Pet Avengers!!!
-
Hi Axel,
I know the aim of big events like AvX is to always make it accessible to new readers. I am a big Rachel Grey/Summers fan though. She obviously has a lot of history with the Phoenix Force, and she has a lot of history with her brother from another (cloned) mother and Hope's dad, Cable. That makes her Hope's aunt of sorts. Will we see a reunion between Rachel and Cable following X-Sanction? Will Rachel have any interaction with Hope as the Phoenix closes in? It would seem like Cyclops would want someone with experience using the Phoenix power on hand. Not to mention I thought it was particularly touching after the Age of X story when Cyke told the psychic remnant of Rachel that he'd find her out in space, and it seemed like they had reconciled. If that's truly the case I'd love to see how her decision to follow Wolverine affected Cyke.

Hey Axel,
Fred Van Lente introduced two new characters Coldmoon and Dragonfire in the Point One issue a few months ago. Know there are plans in place for the characters, but curious if we should expect them in a future project by FVL or another creative team altogether?
-
Hi Axel, I know you mentioned in your last column that b- listers like Warpath need to bump shoulders with the Cyclopses etc to keep vital, but what about a character like Gambit, who is just as popular as the Cyclopses but hasn't had as much of a role in recent Marvel wide events , will he have a good role in the Avengers vs X-Men book?
-
Hi Axel!
During AvX, will the polar opposite of the Phoenix Force, First Fallen, appear or at least be mentioned?

Hope I'm doing this correctly! I have my question all prepared. I've been a Marvel fan for over half of my life, even hanging in there when I was realllllly unhappy with a story or the treatment of a character, or just the way the business was headed. So I think it's fair to say I'm loyal! Here is my question: As a writer (a nit-picky one, with an English Lit. degree), I completely understand a lot of what's going on in the AvX storyline (you have to make it accessible and compress a ton of history), but I am just...baffled by the treatment of the Phoenix Force as (I'm quoting!!) a "parasite." The portrayal I'm seeing is more in character with Le Bete Noir wearing a Phoenix "costume." So why the decision to make the Phoenix something bad? I've always loved the portrayal of Phoenix as a Cosmic Entity being simply a Force, like Gravity: not evil or good in and of itself. It has always been the host that ends up determining how that Force interacts with a world. I even opened my Phoenix Handbook (Pub. 9/2010) to make sure I hadn't misunderstood the last twenty years of my comic book life. So...what gives guys? I'm confused!
