I decided to post the video here because Deadpool made the list, he is indeed one of the funniest video game characters in gaming thus far, especially his inclusion in Marvel versus Capcom 3 and of course his upcoming game which I must say looks hilarious. So these are the top 10 candidates currently, if you can think of any funnier video game characters not listed then feel free to list them, otherwise sit back and enjoy the show. By the way this video was inspired by the youtube comedy week.

Contra, you've got to love it. Seriously, it's an age old game that is really much more fun with a second player and a game that has supplied us retro gaming fans with hours upon hour of joy. Do you guys love this game as much as I do, and if so what are your thoughts on Contra? For me, Contra was an extremely hard one player game that was easier with two but still incredibly difficult, but featured fast and fun gameplay that was pretty addicting and music that was highly enjoyable. I've recently written a blog about the game and figured I'd add a little piece of it here to spark discussion on the game...

Quote:

Ah yes, many of you may remember countless late nights on the couch or early mornings in your bedrooms navigating the fierce jungles or other intense locations within Contra, but I know that all of you surely remember just how fucking hard this game actually was. This game wasn't just hard, it was a god damn ball buster, but it was also fun as hell once you've entered in the “Konami Code” and settled down with a second player to proceed into what sometimes felt like a long, slow, ass raping. It's difficulty aside, I would say that this game was truly one of the most prolific 2-player games on the NES and certainly one of the most popular. I didn't know anyone who didn't own this game back in the heyday of the Nintendo Entertainment System, or at least I didn't know anyone who hadn't at least played it. Contra was seemingly everywhere and the game was so popular it spawned some sequels on the NES and eventually quite a few other platforms like the Gameboy, Super Nintendo, Genesis, and even the Playstation, but none of them quite captured the awe-inspiring greatness of the original classic.

I knew so many people who had this game back in the day, and even more who have rented it or played it at a friends house, and the acclaim for this game is universally outstanding. I just wish that it wasn't so expensive on eBay and in small retro video game retail stores, Contra should be no more than $10 at max because it's a pretty common game unlike something like Dragon Warrior IV that didn't see a widespread release. Anyhow, let's discuss Contra!

For more information: http://www.riftgame.com/en/promo/freetoplay.php

To quote from the website:

"No trials. No tricks. No traps.

Our free-to-play model is built on a simple idea: everyone can download, log in, and play all of RIFT, free. Starting June 12, new players will have access to all game content – from dungeons and Warfronts to the latest raids – with no level restrictions.
Subscribers enjoy the ultimate RIFT experience.

Subscribers, known as Patrons, receive special bonuses to currency, mount speed, various types of experience, and more!"

Storm Legion looked really good so I think this will be my chance to relevel another character and see how the endgame is.

Remember back in the day when you would play a game over and over and you knew every trick in the book, every nook and cranny, and every in and out of that specific title? Remember when you would bond with your games and spend hours upon hours playing them to the point to where you believed you were the best player of that specific game in the world? Well, guess what....you did and it happened. That's why you're here! You're here because the games of yesterday excited you so much that you collect them and still play them today, but the problem is that in 20 years you'll still remember those classic games but today's games you won't remember nearly as much....if at all. Today's gamer usually plays a game once and then trades it in or sells it to buy a new game, It's a mentality that I like to call "one and done" and they're trying to constantly move onto the next big thing instead of savoring what's in front of them with the games that they have. I have a friend who buys a game, plays it for a week and then goes out and buys two more before finishing the game he was originally playing. Now, he starts playing the new games two at a time while ignoring the game he's currently playing and then he decides that he'll just trade in the first game toward a new game and now he's got three games he's not playing, rinse and repeat. A lot of gamers are like that these days, I read the "What are you playing" threads on almost every forum I'm a part of and it's something new every week for most people and I find it sad. 25 years after The Legend of Zelda was released people can still remember where all the hidden walls are, or where to burn a tree, or the configuration for getting to the cemetery, or how to do this or that, but in 25 years nobody is even going to remember this generation or games or the last because the games themselves weren't that memorable and most people adopted this "one and done" method of gaming.
What do you guys think?
