I looked at the preview of the new edition here:
http://www.comicbookresources.com/?p...eview&id=16665
Thanks in advance for any input...
Comic Book Babylon gathers icons HARLAN ELLISON, STAN LEE, ALAN MOORE, FRANK MILLER, JOE KUBERT, GENE COLAN, DAVE COCKRUM, WALTER SIMONSON and NEAL ADAMS into a conversation with CLIFFORD METH where anything goes. Among other stories, you'll learn how & why X-Men co-creator Dave Cockrum became the first Marvel artist to receive a monetary settlement and lifetime royalties for his creations after years of suffering and being unable to get work... You'll meet a well-known Hollywood film producer who doesn't like to pay his writers (until someone squeezes his face)... You'll read Harlan Ellison saying things the way only Harlan Ellison can... And you'll wonder why no one has sued Cliff yet and won.
This fascinating book collects Meth's comics columns and essays--some too outrageous to publish in their day--and adds never-before-revealed material. Everything is brought to life with sensational illustrations by the celebrated and beloved Marvel/DC artist MICHAEL NETZER.
What's achieved is a startling look at the REAL villains and heroes of comics. Introduction by STAN LEE. Art by NETZER. Rants by METH. What are you waiting for?

Before I really got into comics as a kid my very 1st things I ever picked up were Mad and Cracked Magazines. I really loved the humor and articles. Plus the covers were fun for me. As a kid I really enjoyed Cracked a lot more weirdly. No idea why. Maybe it was the janitor/mascot character of Sylvester P. Smythe. The character would show up in the corner of each issue and even be a part of the story at times. Being a janitor and having to clean things up.

Well after those years of the early 1990's , I lost touch with Cracked magazine. I had moved onto comics as a whole and never really came back to the magazine. In reading wiki , the magazine ceased publication in the 2000's . It never had as many subscribers as Mad did. But it folded up after 49 years of publication. Kinda sad to see something from my child hood end in that way.

So does anyone else have memories of Cracked magazine ? And yes folks...I do know there is a website now.

If that is indeed the case what a loss. There are more eloquent posters on this board but I'll say that Conan 19 and 20 and Master of Kung Fu 38-39 were beautiful comics.
I also recall a great issue of Sub Mariner he did (55?) and a neat-o Dr. Strange origin story (169).

So, I just don't get Cloak and Dagger.

I mean, I know who the characters are and I understand their powers and history and everything. And I also understand that they have a cool design, cool names and their first appearance has a really neat cover.

But I just don't get the appeal beyond that. I've read a number of appearances and issues of their various titles and man, for my money, they pretty much all suck. I have no interest in ever reading anything about these characters. Mind you, I don't necessarily hate them as guest stars, but their solo books are just... man, I don't get it.

Can anyone explain what the draw of Cloak and Dagger is? Is there a draw? Are there actual Cloak and Dagger fans out there?

Everyone who has been collecting comics for years remembers the speculation market of the early '90s.

I recently bought Noble Causes:Family Secrets #3 for $30.00 at milehighcomics.com. It is a book that I've been looking for awhile. I eventually figured out that it took me so long to find a copy because it is Image Comics' Invincible's first appearance. I bought it, to complete my Noble Causes/Dynamo5 collection, thinking I'll be familiarized with Invincible. But there was only a one panel cameo of Invincible in this book. One panel. Nowhere else on this book does he show up. The price of the book went up solely for a one panel appearance of a comic book character? This reminded me of the speculator boom from the 1990s. So I googled this and found out that there are other books who command a high dollar simply because it is x character's first appearance.

So, did the speculator market stay or did it come back?

The 1967 Spider-Man cartoon is beloved for many reasons, most notably the talented voice cast and the jazzy, trippy sounds of its legendary theme song and incidental music. The music for seasons two and three of the show have long been available in crisp, clear master recordings through the public-domain KPM library. Ubiquitous for decades in films and television programs, KPM tracks are still in use today (a Taco Bell radio spot that I've been hearing for the past few days uses Syd Dale's "The Hell-Raisers"). But for most of us on this board, I'd wager that if we're familiar with this music at all, it's because of Spider-Man.

The incidental music for season one was an original score composed by Ray Ellis. Sadly, it was revealed a few years ago that the master recordings of this music had corroded and are irretrievably lost. As it often does, the internet came to the rescue. A dedicated Spider-Fan has painstakingly isolated the incidental music from season one, assembled it into playable sound files, and posted it on his site for your listening pleasure.
