leaving from where the preview leaves off:

- Iron-bot and Hyperion meet fellow Avengers teaching the children different aspects of life (Spock = Trust by teaching self defense, Thor = Camaraderie by sending groups of children off to retrieve an enchanted rock after telling stories of The Warriors Three, Hawkeye/Spiderwoman = Accountability by Sunbathing and not watching the kids at all lol)

- Garokk watches the children filled with hope, but also notices a ship full of monsters en route to the children

- Thor and Hyperion kick back and get philosophical on Hyperion's changed perspective of life/family, which is interrupted by the children's successful retrieval of Thor's rock

- Captain Universe joins in on the teaching with Hyperion, but a Sabretooth Tiger hybrid pops out of nowhere to attack the group, but is quickly dispatched by Hawkeye

- Spock points out the Cat was just a distraction and points to more kids being taken in the air

- The kids are brought before the big bad of this arc i guess.. The High Evolutionary

Pretty good issue, you can definitely tell Spiderman is full on Spock mode now, and Hyperion is Sentry done right imo. Hopefully Hickman doens't heel turn him. 9/10

I'm a fan from way back.... and I have to say, I can't stand the current books? It's just one 'event' after another with no impact on the world, no logical conclusions, and no character.. it seems all about having 'kewl' villians.

The concept of a huge 'team' where there are different people 'on camera' every month is an epic fail to me... I was thrilled when Sunspot and Cannonball joined, yet they've been in, what 2 issues out of 9? Never mind the fact that both Avengers and New Avengers have Earth shattering plots going on WHILE Age of Ultron is going, AND the Red Skull stuff in Uncanny Avengers is going, AND they're popping in to police the mutants, who seem to be completely ignoring these Earth Shattering threats... does Wolverine just pop into the school and say 'this crazy alien on Mars is attempting to destroy all human life on Earth and start up a few new species, be back in a bit'

I'm enjoying Uncanny, and am looking forward to getting Avengers Assemble (got trades on the way) but the two 'main' books are just terrible... agree? Or am I missing something?

I really have to say that this book has continued to improve with each issue. Unlike the previous issue, this one is very much Sif-centric. There is an incredibly minor Iron Man cameo in addition to the appearance of the space-faring Korbinite Beta Ray Bill.

I had a bit of difficulty opening this thread without talking about Sif tending Gaea's garden, but that's exactly how this issue opens as per the preview. While Gaea remains bed-ridden, Sif and the remaining All Mothers venture to Broxton to pay Dr. Jane Foster a visit. One thing I absolutely loved about the waiting room scene was how physically imposing the female Asgardians were portrayed compared to the average Broxton woman. It was a nice visual touch.

Dr. Foster suggests a quarantine of All Mother Gaea until they can figure out what is wrong. Stark offers the use of an asteroid base with a few rules. Immonen really seems to have Tony's characterization down pat.

While settling in, Sif intercepts a call from an incoming vessel piloted by a familiar sounding horse-faced alien who's hot on the tail of another alien vessel.

This issue was light on action but still managed to be entertaining nevertheless. We get to see more of Sif's softer side.

I also like that Sif isn't always in battle-garb. It's a nice touch on the part of Schiti that she'd drop the armaments when she's just trying to relax. I'm also interested in seeing BRB's new costume in full. It's more cosmic in its look but still very heavily influenced by his Asgardian brother's apparel.

Cannot wait for the next issue.

CJ: it looks like you got your wish for Steve and Wanda...in an alternate reality. Kinda. :/

This issue was just depressing. Alex has abandoned his "call me Alex" moniker in this reality, going only by Havok. The training lesson for the twins has fatal results for he and his bride, Rogue.

It's not my favorite issue thus far, but it was a solid read. Remender is clearly listening to the online debates and addresses them here, with varying success.

There's not enough Wanda for my liking, but Steve and Alex both have brilliant showings! :D

I may be just a tad too invested in this series. I actually got a little gushy as Loki comes through for the team and Billy and Teddy have an adorable little moment.

Oh, and Yanna will be happy to see a certain outfit. :p

I was wondering about legacy characters, and whether the fans of the "original" follow on as fans of the new legacy character. In theory it's the main reason for creating legacy characters, to instantly gain new fans. And does it work in reverse? Those who become fans of legacy characters, do they also look up the "original" and become fans? So I thought we should explore one of the greatest original/legacy duo = Scarlet Mom and Wiccan!

Are you a fan of one, neither, both? What draws you to one, and does that also draw you to another?
Most people are willing to admit Cavill seems like he can carry on the legacy but will still not capture the character like Reeve did

Do you think that RDJ's depiction of Tony Stark and Ironman is this generation's equivalent to the perfect casting of Superman in those first two Superman films? Do you take things a step farther and feel RDJ is the absolute go-to example for showcasing perfect casting for a superhero role? Do you think RDJ's characterization of Stark is overrated and it won't be that difficult when the time comes to recast the role?
