My sister gave me my Christmas gifts which was a Fat Albert DVD and a cd of Beatles 1 , which I already had. The Fat Albert DVD was one I never really wanted so she told me I could take them back.

Granted I had no proof of purchase left but I did keep both items wrapped and with the K-Mart tags on them. I really expected to get a credit line like at Wal-Mart where you can get something to add up for both purchases.

So I was expecting at least $ 30.00 back and with 5 or 10 I was gonna get a season set of Sienfeld or a jacket. This was before I got there and realized a horrible thing.

I had to exchange the gifts for the exact same items. I couldn't get 1 to add up to the total or clothes. It had to be a CD and DVD priced at the same level.

After lookin awhile I found " The Warriors " on DVD. The new edition that was just released. Great DVD by the way for comic book fans. Also I found a CD of " Creed : Greatest Hits CD/DVD " which has all 13 hits that were put on Videos. I was lookin for Audioslave's newest album but couldn't find it.

This was pretty much my only return this year. So anyone else bein screwed by the evil that is K-Mart ?

It's not so bad. At least you can get something else. Still, not getting your money back to save is a dumb rule.

Ohhh I could have dealed with that. I just thought when you had a return of 2 items they could do what a Wal-Mart does and add both 15 dollar items togethor and you can get something nearly at that price!

Instead it was the " You must by CD & DVD " that irked me. Its no wonder K-Mart's going down. The service is set back in the stone age it seems.

Kmart is like an older, uglier, poorer version of walmart.
No one should shop there, because all you are doing is slowing there decline into death and Walmart and Targets eventual war of robots.

Well, Supes, either your K-Mart is weird or ours is, because my roomie took back a scarf her sister got her just today and they put cash in her hand.

Wow, I had a weird return experience today too...but it was at a different store.

Rather than just give me cash back (I had reciept and all), I *had* to swipe a card, debit or otherwise, in order to get the return.

Hmmm...now that I think about it..it was across the street from a K-mart.

Maybe it's contagious.

I'm sure we all realize these are just measure to try to stop the whole "steal and return" scam, right? Some things are more effective than others, but some are just pointless and annoying. I think Supes' bit comes under that latter heading. What possible difference could it make to them if you get a sweater or a CD in place of your returned item? It's no different than if the purchaser had chosen it in the first place. Only think I can figure is different mark-up profits...

I would have loved getting the cash . Hell I would have handled the 2 items being changed for whatever I wanted.

Heres whats funny....the CD and DVD my sister got me was : $ 14.99 & $ 14.99 on the sticker. Well the Beatles 1 i'm reading on the reciept was marked down to $ 9.99 . So togethor both items are $ 23.-- something. Last numbers are blurred out wierdly.

So " The Warriors " ( brillant DVD people... :) ) is $ 19.99 on futher look. Then the CD of Creed is $ 14.99. Thats right. K-Mart in thier rush to not hand me my change back and the whole stupied exchange policy cheated themselves outt $ 12 to 13 bucks. Thats payback.

Well, if it was bought with a card, it has to be returned on a card... *mumbles about stupid credit card policies* Honestly, used to have to work return desk... and the K-Mart people were stupid, unless you opened either of them. Maybe a newbie forgetting that?

So what, you're saying they still had the K-Mart price tage on them? Who leaves price tags on gifts?

You could have just peeled the price tags off and returned them to pretty much any other store on earth, where they would happily give you store credit or cash for the item.

Its pretty hard to peel off the prices and not screw up the items and how thier wrapped. Trust me..If I could I would have. Plus I didn't wanna risk opening them and killing my refund. ;)

I only go into K-Mart to urinate on the magazine rack.

I refuse to support them in any other way.

Wal-Mart is also evil, but I buy stuff from there.....

Not anymore, now that K-Mart owns Sears, the stores are really getting a makeover. The local K-Mart looks better inside than Target, and certainly better than the warzone that Walmart has turned into.

As for returns, I agree that's kind of a weird policy, but I'm surprised that they're allowing you to return without a receipt at all. Most stores simply will not allow it anymore because they've had problems with people shoplifting, then turning around and trying to get money back with the stolen merchandise. Last year I tried to return a sealed DVD to Circuit City for another one that I didn't already have and they wouldn't let me, even though it was clearly marked with their price stickers, etc. No receipt, no returns, no exceptions.
