No one ever said it was voluntary.For what it's worth, I've been to those kind of interviews myself. Went for an individual interview (20 miles through the snow-seriously) and got there to find out a) I was 30 minutes late because the douche from the company told me the wrong time, and b) I was sharing the interview with no less than 30 other people in an airport hotel ballroom. I was so pissed (off and on) that I just left.

Good news is that the company went bankrupt less than a year later. Sons of bitches.
