In the song "Jackson", which Jackson exactly were Johnny and June Cash singing about?

Not 100% sure, but its about their marriage/romance. Kind of how she tamed the wild man, or at least got the wild man to show tenderness, even in Jackson, where all hell breaks loose. I'd have to listen to it again, but thats the basic plot.

I always thought it was Jackson, MS, for no other reason then it was supposed to be a country song and country songs always make me think of the south.
