ok, well i've been spending alot of time on the boards trying to stay updated on whats occuring in both marvel and DC respectively, when it hit me, like a lightning bolt, im far more interested in writers and to a lesser degree artist that are involved in certain books, i will modify my buying habits to accomidate titles that are written by specific writers, for instance, i was a big fan of the JLA when morrison was writing the title but dropped it like a hot potato when waid took over (im not a big fan of waid's although he can write servicable stories), im planning on dropping ultimates when loeb takes over (im not very pleased with what he has planned for the title and he turned me off with his over use of the "inner monologue" in batman-superman)
anyway, am i in the minority or the majority.
i know this is a very subjective question, i just wanna know if titles are the bigger draw, if your favorite title was taken over by a creative team u absolutley hated would u still buy the title out of loalty to the character??
writers i will read:
Alan Moore
Mark Millar
Ed Brubaker
Grant Morrison
Warren Ellis
Los Bros Hernandez
Brian K Vaughn
Garth Ennis
Steve Rude
Keith Giffen
Kurt Busiek
Neal Gaiman
writers i stay way from like the plague:
john byrne (big daddy of all HACKS!) lol
brian michael bendis (hack!hack!hack!hack!hack!hack!hack!hack!hack!hack !)
jeph loeb
mark waid
judd wynnic
devin grayson
geoff johns
ron marz
kevin smith
brad meltzer
recent Frank Miller

I would drop the title if I didn't like a member of the creative team. I dropped Uncanny X-Men when the new artist took over, who is that Baccalo, because I don't like his artwork nowadays. With DC's comics I will read a series if they have an interesting story.

definitely the creative team for me--but I also tend to buy titles based on the artist sometimes--e.g. f quitely. and maybe this kerschl person
btw--my list of creative teams I like is much different that yours! but I agree with the bendis crack (why did marvel give him the keys to the car? didn't they know he can't drive stick!) and the current byrne. not sure what got into that dude.

I'm a little of both.
If there's a character I really like, any creative team I'll give a shot. If I like a writer's past/current work, I'll give whatever they're writing on a shot more often than not.
As far as writers go, I'm a what have you done for me lately OR is this character a good fit for you. I can't say I have any clear favorites. There's no writer that I get every title he/she writes.

Little of both here as well.
I have some "unbreakable" runs... Batman by Winnick is challenging that though  ... but I will read ANYTHING (budget permitting of course!) by Waid, Alan Moore, Busiek.
Other than Batman I avoid Winnick like the plague he is. I dropped GL and GA when Winnick took over... BUT I always try and give the new teams a chance first.

I gotta disagree... he may have some crap stuff... but almost EVERYONE who's been in the business as long as he has is bound to have some crap.
Read his FF run for the best run the title has seen since Stan and Jack were on the book. His Alpha Flight, She-Hulk, X-Men The Hidden Years and Next Men are fantastic.

You stay away from Jeph Loeb, Geoff Johns and Brian Michael Bendis like they are the plague?
Holy christ.
EDIT: AND Mark Waid???
WTF??????
DOUBLE EDIT:
As for answering the post, I have not been in the comic book world long enough to know a plethora of writers and/or artists, but I do know ones that I like. However, it's usually the titles that I am drawn to.
I will read anything that involves Batman and/or Superman.
Writers I am drawn to...
Alan Moore
Jeph Loeb
Geoff Johns
Frank Miller
Mark Waid
Greg Rucka
Joss Whedon
Sir Tim Drake

I almost always buy new comics on the basis of the creative team. There is only one title that I would read regardless of the creative team, that being Legion of Super-Heroes.
For back issues, I'm not quite so discriminating. If a comic is both cheap and old, then I might buy it even if I don't know who the creative team is.

I'm not really sure what draws me to a comic. Usually if my friends rave about it, I'll give it a go, and maybe I'll like it and stay on.
Some artists/writers are way better on some titles than others. I kinda agree with you on Byrne, but what if he hits his stride again on...oh, let's say he started doing Machine Man, and it turned out to be on par with his FF and Superman Reboot runs? You can't ever rule out a comic based on the creator, you never know if they might hit solid gold again, and I *think* Byrne could still do it again. Maybe. Possibly. I won't hold my breath waiting, but you never know...
Waid? He had a perfect FF run himself, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on anything he does for now.
I think right now, the only people I would buy if their name was on the cover regardless of what the comic was would be Slott, Morrison, and maybe
Brubaker. I'd only buy Starlin if he was drawing the comic.

in general i'm a fan of the titles and characters. however i'll drop a title/character i like if a writer i don't like comes on. i'll try out something new if a writer i like comes on (it helps if its a whole new concept, as opposed to a writer i like coming on board an ongoing).
