No, it's really stupid.

Because they signed in, so I found their LJ, which gave me their AIM address, which gave me their web address, which is about to give me their home address.

You know, I may actually really get to use my Chanukah presents this year.

Anyone know where I can buy a good whetstone?

Er, not to muddy the waters at all, but the actual contents of her livejournal seem to be, if a little self-indulgent, at least grammatically sound and not... horrendously mean-spirited.

I'm kind of getting the feeling that the original comment was perhaps posted by someone else? I don't know. I just can't really reconcile someone writing sappy poetry about clouds and then turning around and saying so hurtful about somebody else's grandfather. Maybe I'm being naive?

Stalking them isn't "sinking to their level"? I dunno, Typo, she said (or whoever said) a shitty thing, but this seems like a gross overreaction. I get idiots at my blogs from time to time. I usually just ignore them or delete them. I don't see why people are cheering Typo and Nate in this almost-as-immature-behavior as whatsername.

I don't think what I'm doing is "stalking" Joe. I'm just letting someone know that if they think they can take little pot shots on the web because they're "safe" behind an assumed ID then well, they're wrong.

But I regard Morts as my friend, and am I proud that my friend stood up for himself and HIS friends rallied behind him when faced with this sort of noxious shit? Yes. Yes I am.

I apologize Morts but I want to say this...

addressing this person's negative comment on the 'net is no different than in person. In fact, I think it is more important. The 'net provides a false shield of protection, that one can be an ass and get away with it, which isn't normally available when actually speaking face to face. This individual, I assume, would never go up to someone and say what she said. While Nate's choice of language was questionable how many of us would allow someone to say something like that in person without comment? Yes, there are social twits out there who believe that it is okay to say whatever they like and, usually, after our first encounter with them we tune them out (or ignore them) but to say "its only the 'net" encourages boorish behavior. Call the rude on their behavior, maybe then there will be a few less trolls.

You're so cute when you think you have the moral high ground.

Seriously, though, look at it this way: our young nimrod probably did this thing thinking that, through the Internet, she was anyonymous and free from repercussions. Now that Morts has proven this not to be true, perhaps said nimrod will be less likely to behave like a nimrod in the future.

For the record, I am Kimberly Fortuner. Someone used my account to post a comment on Typolad's entry. I was reading it on a computer at work that was accessible to the public, and walked away to help a customer.

I have never truly attempted to hide my identity online, nor have I ever typed such a malicious comment in my life. (This is supported with the ease that you were able to connect my livejournal account to my actual name and address, and the other writing that I have on the internet.)

I enjoyed his livejournal account sincerely while I was reading it. I don't any more, because I now have less and less time to spend online.

So, what's WRONG with this particular person?

She walked away from the computer while idiots could reach it and pretend to be her. The cruel idiot child in her store got a good laugh out of it, she (possibly - I assume that one call was from one of you) got harrassed in her personal life, and the person who's grandfather she really admired got pain and rage rather than sympathy.
