Okay I tried importing Metallica's Kill Em' All twice to my apple computer. Both times the disc has stalled out on track four where iTunes makes no progress on the importing and ultimately forces me to do a re-boot. I looked at the disc and its flawless...no scratches that I can see.

Any suggestions? Disc cleaning? Its particularily perplexing to me because I have some scratched up discs that import fine. I probably have 50+ albums that I have imported into iTunes no problem. Any one else experience a disc not being able to be imported into iTunes? If so is there anything I can do fix it?

Try doing it in Windows Media Player and see if it occurs there.

Thanks for the advice, I have an apple computer though. My dad burned me a copy on his windows machine and I re-imported the disc with no problems. The CD must have a scratch or some defect my apple couldn't get past.

The disc could be scratched, I know that screws up my importing sometimes.

I've noticed that just today.

I've been listening to my Cheap Trick box set, and it skipped in parts. I don't know what the condition of the discs are, cause I just assumed they were okay, but I have had the set for a while.

I don't know CD Players are funny. My Stereo CD player skips on my Perfect Circle CD, but handles Metallica fine...the reverse is true for my computer. My advice is just find someone with a burner to burn you a new copy...that worked like a charm with Metallica CD.

Specifically speaking about importing live iTunes CDs, I would advise linking all the files into one long track. You won't be able to jump to a favorite song, but there are no pauses that disrupt the flow a live CD. Just my personal preference, but I think it really makes live CDs better.

I've run into this problem as well. You might want to upgrade the CD-Rom for your computer or hook up a different one and see if that works. My CD-Rom drive at home has a lot of problems with small scratches on CDs but my work computer more often than not will allow me to import those same songs.

Anyone know about importing video to the format that can be played on the new iPods? Can't seem to figure it out.

This is a pretty effective guide (http://playlistmag.com/features/2005/12/convertvideo/index.php) that covers in detail how to convert video. I've tried it and it works. It does take a while though.

Actually I don't think it's possible to convert WMV to MPEG.

Edit: Nevermind it is possible. I just can't find a free Mac program that does it.

If you are using a PC give this (http://movavi.com/convertmovie) a try. If you are using a Mac I don't know what to tell you. I tend to avoid WMV even if I can play it.

Though to be honest I don't think the quality will end up being any good. WMV is pretty cruddy.

Thanks, that article you posted previously had a link to a program that would do it, I was just hoping I could convert them for free. I have a PC btw.

It's weird when you check the properties of some WMV files it says its an MPEG. I'm going to have to fool around with it more.

Sounds like some one got a replacement iPod for his broken Mini, right?

Cool article, Grant. But do you know a program that converts Quicktime movies to DVD files? I wanna watch Yacht Rock on my Television.

THere's probably something. I think a lot of DVD burning software takes MOV and MPEG files. It's not going look very good though.

I'm pretty sure that idvd (http://www.apple.com/ilife/idvd/) can do that.

Edit: It supports most Quicktime formats. (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=164949)

You can use Quicktime Pro (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/tutorials/creatingvideo.html).
