Interesting costume for Cypher. Very space-hero. I don't dig the colors that much, but it's still cool.

Very interesting Darkchylde, i like the costume.
Does anyone else have any pictures of Doug or Warlock?

Wow! That's cool. He's coming out of the mirror? I like the effect, the change from glossy and glazed Douglock to that clear one.
Dan, you should totally post your Warlock in here!

The spirit IS there, Xak. His spirit too, I think. The Ranma comic was a thoughtful touch. The composition in your drawing gives deeper meaning. Doug facing his 'mirror' image in Warlock is a simple and brilliant little character study.
Let's see.... writing, drawing, what else can the talented Xakko do? :)

That's great! I love the way you did his hair.

Thanks! Turns out it is a costume redesign as the X on the chest is much smaller, I guess in comics it continues down the leg but in my art it ends over the chest and is matched by a belt, gloves and boots in the yellow scheme. I think the X-men Evolution series has a similar look they use for the uniforms.
@jstar That means a ton. Its my hair with a bit of flare at the end, but it took the longest of this entire drawing to get right. Hair and I nearly always disagree on paper :)

That's fantastic. Really haunting, which suits the character right now. Did you use charcoal?

Great, now i am addicted to drawing X-Men on MS Paint, what can I say, it's fun.
This is a quicky i did of Dougie, and it's supposed to be comedic or lighthearted. Enjoy, and please PM me feed back!

Is that graphite or charcoals or both mixed? That is a very impressive piece and quite moody. Definitely the crown jewel of this entire thread.

Sorry, I passed out. It's Charcoal you guessed right. Its an eraser drawing so I started with a completely charcoal piece of paper and erased Doug from it. Gives it a darker grittier quality.

That's what I thought. It is very good and I see you came back and tinkered with the head area. Looks fabulous. I usually just stick with pencils, but I am trying to get used to MS Paint since I don't have a scanner. It's tough and I can't quiet get the results I want.
Still, your submission remains the crown jewel of this thread. Please share more on other Draw Me an X threads!

Thanks ^-^, I've worked in graphite before its not as fast as working with Charcoal. With some good music and preworked paper I can tdo a charcoal piece in an hour or two, sometimes much longer depending on the face and hair.
I'm thinking I want to try Anole or Elixir next :/ I had this idea of doing Jean Grey piece but my work isnt small and Jean would easily be very very large. Cypher is 20"x36'" for reference.

Nice. Please post more of your art when you get the chance. It is great to have a variety of different art techniques on these boards.
That Jean Grey/Phoenix project sounds like it would turn out to be legendary! I don't care which X-Men you charcoal erase, but please just keep posting your work, it's fantastic!!

exactly, my theme is movie style art. think Boris Vallejo/Julie Bell TITANS series meets the X-film franchise. So if I did a Jean grey itd be Famke Janssen and likely in what I'd interpret a proper film version of Phoenix. Eraser drawings can be pretty gritty though unless I go full color and then it tends to smooth it out.
Edit: below some of my crap in color and Phoenix by Julie Bell

You're a lot faster than me. :) I've never tried that technique, but I've done something kind of similar when shading graphite. Using a blending stub to smear the shadows then an eraser to pull out highlights. I've never een quite comfortable with charcoal, but picture makes me tempted to try again.

I've decided to do an Elixir drawing with Excelsior as my subject. You can find a picture of him on page 52 of the "cast me" thread.
