There's an interview with Will Pfeifer and he discusses the upcoming changes to Catwoman. I think I have it figured out, and I'm a very happy Cat-fan. :)

Eh, I dunno. At least Pfeiffer denies the rumor that her name is Selena Wayne.

I have a pretty good suspicion that Holly is the new Catwoman and I'm not sure what I think of that.

They are probably just messing with us here. It sounds so much like the Earth-2 set-up that I'm almost sure they won't go that way. Though I have to admit, they hooked me. I'm chomping at the bit to see how this turns (and the rest of the Batfamily) turns out.

Yah. This is like getting rid of Bruce Wayne as Batman.

Oh wait...

Only comics get to be this self-indulgent and pointless. None of these changes sound like they sprang from the drama and the creativety of the writer, more of an editorial edict. Actually Catwoman has been third-rate ever since Brubaker (especially) and Cooke left. Why can't the cretins at DC get it into their thick skulls that the identity of a dramatic character is indivisible from their personality. Catwoman and Selina Kyle are just different spheres of the same person. Their mix and match approach to characterisation is creatively bankrupt and completely vacuous.

This will be the best change ever for Catwoman if she becomes Selina Kyle-Wayne and has a little baby with Bruce.

Plus, you know they could always kill off Holly (who I believe is the new Catwoman) in the line of action and have Selina return to the mantle of the cat.

In the chat room, Pfeiffer said it'll still be Selina and he wants her to be more than "Batman's girlfriend". Oh and that Selina will always work outside the law but will never be a villain again.

Seems he plans on using Selena for some time to come, unless all this came AFTER the chat conversation, which is possible (though I doubted).

Is Holly one of those girls that Catwoman helped out & now they sort of live with her & help her out?

Captain Jim

Holly is Selena's roommate. They relationship goes way back to Frank Miller's Batman: Year One.

Maybe it's Slam's baby.

Could Slam be the new host for the Spectre? He'd fit the old Corrigan mold.

I think it was left pretty ambiguous so feasibly she could have survived the shot or be dead, depending on the what the writers or editors wanted.

Well, since Bruce WAS the last person Selina had slept with (Catwoman #25 or #27 I think, maybe someone can correct me on this) it seems very likely that he's the father. And if Pfeifer says that Selina doesn't reveal who the father is, then maybe she won't tell Bruce either. That's because she knows that if Batman and Selina's enemies ever found out they had a child together, they could use the kid to try and get to them. Also, perhaps Selina, out of love for Bruce, realizes that if he was made aware that she's carrying his child, it might distract him from his war on crime. Perhaps its also why she changes her name, since almost everyone knows Catwoman and Selina are the same and that she associates with both Batman and Bruce Wayne. Now the question is what if Bruce DOES find out during 52? Will Bruce and Selina marry in secret? Or will they stay apart in order to protect their kid?

A waste of a good character.

Babies (along with marriage) is a sure way to kill a character. What, in Selina's history as a comics character has ever hinted at "mother". Now, she'll forever be a mother. Not to mention that having a kid leads you to A) always have a baby. (That'll get old quick) or B) age the baby and therefore age the character until Selina is now the creepy grandmother skulking around the East End in leather.

DC editorial should've nixed this right away.

Everytime someone mentions something about some DC storyline in the future, the text gets blotted out.

well it is a mod or DC or what?

I just want to know the story behind the disappearing text......

Irrelevant. Don't forget that this transpires ONE YEAR LATER. We have no way of knowing who (or how many people) she may have slept with during that time.

Unless of course Selina is revealed to be pregnant in Catwoman #52 (the issue before the one that takes place "One Year Later") and THAT's just ONE of the reasons why she has to change her idenity and go into hiding in order to protect her unborn child. THEN she gives birth sometime DURING 52 but not EXACTLY "One Year Later." That seems to be what Pfeifer is implying in my opinion.

Besides, the other possibility is that Bruce is the one who helps to change her identity and give her a new life. And while he's checking up on her, one thing leads to another...

Then it that case, DC should post issues of Spider-Man post-marriage and say "Don't do this" so their editors know not to kill off a character.
