...and I'm still wondering, who is this guy???
http://www.marvel.com/catalog/listing.htm?month=03&day=15&year=2006&format=comic
It looks like our villian has either lighting or fire coming from his eyes and hands. Could it be possible, based on the cover for X-Men 184, that it's Sunfire? Could the Prof have made Shiro participate in the original resue effort? It's obvious that Sunfire is now a Horseman; his look is identical to his AOA counterpart...
Maybe it was Neal Shaara?
Regardless, I still don't think it's Tbird...

Why do you think it's any of those people. Since it doesn't look like Sunfire or TBird III.

He looks Summers-ish to me.
Especially after you read the issue blurb.

No, no , no.
The 3rd Summers brother is Rogue.
She has the brown-hair, white streak thing goin' on just like Nate Grey.
So yeah, that's the real shocker...Rogue's really a guy! :p

Is it absolutely confirmed that this guy IS the 3rd summer's brother? Or was it just that this series will clear up who the 3rd brother is? Could the brother be someone completely different?

There is no 3rd Summers brother. Never has been.
Even the character that was meant to be the 3rd Summers brother had no Summers DNA in him.
EDIT: And never should be.

What? I swear that someone confirmed that this series was supposed to clear up the entire 3rd Summer's brother buisness, meaning that there is a 3rd brother. I'll try to find the article that said this.

Just brainstorming. Our foe has black hair, and both Sunfire and TBird 3 do, too. Of vourse, it could be any of a billion MU residents. :o

I think Ed Brubaker said as much on these very boards...

Yeah I found the article:
http://www.newsarama.com/marvelnew/deadlygenesis/secret.htm
And here's the excerpt:
But we're also going to finally tell the story of the Third Summers Brother. That's one of the secrets that Xavier has been sitting on for a while, and when fans read this story, they are going to go -- "Oh my god, it's been right there in front of me for years!"

The only way I'll pick this up is if Shiro is a good guy again, and on an Xmen team, when this is over (And it IS Shiro).

Wow, then you aren't gonna be getting this at all then. Cause I can't possibly fathom how anyone thinks this is Shiro, or that he'll have anything to do with this at all.
Cause, you know, he's already involved in the upcoming Apocalypse storyline.
The only reason this guys head has been covered in all the previous covers is because Marvel is trying to create mystery hype. He's a new character, we've never seen him before, and there was no reason to cover his face because we DO NOT RECOGNIZE him, even now. Marvel did the same thing with Gwen's kids in Sins Past. They covered them on the cover solicitation, even though we wouldn't have recognized them anyway.
He might be the third summers brother, sure. But I'm positive he ain't T-Bird, and I'm also positive he's a new character.

Okay- let me amend that; I may pick it up if whatshisname is a good guy and on an Xteam when this is all over. Sunfire just happens to be one of my favorite mutants, and I lked the AOA approach to him.

Well it's been stated numerous times that this guy is going to be their new Magneto level villain.
So...
I guess...
You still won't be buying it. Which IS a shame, the first issue was really good.

didn't we already discuss this?
it's not sunfire, or neal sharra.
the general theory (and arguably likely truth) is that this character is someone sent to kraoka by xavier who somehow failed his mission and was disposed of. he knows scott and none of the other second genesis x-men, alluding to him possibly being the third summers brother and being erased from scott's memory altogether. the secret xavier's been keeping from the x-men is that he sent a different "all new all deadly" team to rescue his originals that failed and wiped this knowledge from their minds. this character is presumably one of those characters and probably the rumored third summers brother.

I just had a thought, but since I'm not too well versed in the early 80's X-Men stuff, here goes. Was there anyone in particular from the Shi'ar Empire that went missing from this time, because I remember before the what's her name (Shi'ar Empress) took the throne, her father was still alive. This would explain the Marvel Girl statement Scarey Teeth made towards Rachel, since he would've known Jean Grey as Marvel Girl AND Pheniox, he also had black hair, but I'm not familiar with him outside of the X-Men Cartoon. So help me out here.

Excuse the total left fieldness, I'm more than a tad behind and so have been devouring issue summaries left, right and center.
In X-men the End book 2, isn't Gambit a clone of Sinister spliced with Summers' DNA? So didn't that answer the whole '3rd brother thing'? Or has that been totally rejected from current continuity already? I get it being a 'possible' future, so not necessarily cannon, but when it's a retcon like that isn't it still more than likely?
(Course somebody could have switched it to April first and no one told me)

x-men: the end is claremont's ending for the x-men mostly dealing with plots of his from 2 years ago. it is not in continuity and therefore is just a "what-if".
or, in short, anything that happens in x-men: the end doesn't have to happen anywhere else (although it may, if cc wishes to incorporate certain elements and the editors ok it).

I would say, "Yes as they are both dead"...but that means little in Comics. But that looks like niether of them. But Steven Lang could have created a few people...right?

Dam, that's a good theory and sounds real nice too(and does sound true). I am glad Marvel is actually going to sovle the 3rd summers brother thing that was suppose to be Adam X. I thought this was only going to be solved in X-Men: The End, nice to know I was wrong.

If its' not Changeling, then I guess Corsair has had a "real good time" in space all this time... He is a widower, so I guess it would be okay.

Thanks, I got the what if part it was the feedback to before the present that was inherent (and being so far out the loop had no clue where it fell).
Still kinda irks me though, even if it is just a possible future from the now, retconning a characters creation (from before the here and now) should have to pass through the er...now. At least most future possibles, don't twist the past/present - or if they do, they generaly make your head hurt so much you're fine with the inevitable 'gloss over'.
Course it being Sinister, can all just be re-retconned away (or more likely ignored) as a lie.

I am upset by any retconning of sinister, and any attempts to push him out of the way.
I'm hoping that we'll get a big Sinister return to go along with Apocalypse.
