HOLY CRAP, BATMAN! Awesome job, Rick. I particularly like the way you've got Batman's cowl pealed away to reveal the shriveled flesh underneath!

Might I suggest you give AQUAMAN the next treatment......

Hey...if you guys get a minute, please vote on my latest Threadless design. Your friend and mine, Ruta, helped extensively with getting this looking decent. (Thanks, pal!) Check it out!

Thanks, buddy!

The original idea was for these freaks to be walking through a zoo with animals staring at them. It just popped into my head. I couldn't make this design work and Ruta suggested some stuff that worked much better, particularly the suits and adding another freak (the conjoined twins).

Cool design! And an even more awsome site. Does anyone has an idea how good is the quality of their shirts and prints on them?

They produce top-quality t-shirts. I have about 5 or 6 of them, most are my favorite T's. And they often have $10 sales, pretty much the only time I buy shirts.

JDP: I heard that idea from someone else, too. It's a good one, but I think she's wearing stockings if she's all gussied up in a suit. :)

Aw, Hellboy is so cute wearin' a fuzzy scarf. I want to crochet him one and give it to him for Christmas. I'll use silver yarn so it'll repel werewolves. With my crappy crocheting skills, it will also naturally repel anyone with any fashion sense, like Anne Rice's vampires.

Where have I seen Abe's furious expression before? OH YEAH!

Clock King already has a bit of a victorian look anyhow (kinda like how a Gaslight Alfred is that you would change his suit a bit) So I think is sweet how you played up the camp without losing the threat of the clock king

Very nice, Rick!

Speaking of Indiana Jones, I caught the SDCC panel where the principal actors were introduced via a pre-recorded message. As much of a Harrison Ford fan as I have always been, I feel like this movie should be done with a younger Indiana Jones doing most of the stunts and major action scenes. Harrison is.....well, he's looking a little old to be wearing the signature Indiana duds (which it appears that he will be). Sorry to trod on some people's sacred icon, but, well...there ya go.

They already tried that with the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. I didn't watch that either. I find it far more interesting to see what they'll do with the character at 60 or however old Ford is. I already know what a younger Indiana Jones is all about. Now he's got a kid (apparently with Marion Ravenwood: awesome) and he hangs out with a British gangster (Ray Winstone: double awesome).

Anyways...thanks for the love (or like).

I started a new blog that many here will have no interest in, but it's an avenue for me to try some new things in Photoshop (like I did with the Indy piece). Check it out here: http://drawheat.blogspot.com

You know if you gave some more attention to HB's highlights, especially around his chest, head and hands area he'd probably pop right off the page :) And I think if the highlights in the little town's buildings were somewhat intact it might add just a touch more. But otherwise it's a very nice approach you've got going here. Love the texturing going on in the BG.

Great sketches, Rick! Love each and every one of 'em.

BTW, the sketch idea where Hellboy is draped over a famous headstone- for some reason I have Jim Morrison's grave (in France, I believe) pictured. Granted, Morrison's (no, not Grant Morrison) music would have been much too late for Hellboy's formative years (as music of the 40's and 50's would be more appropriate to that), and I honestly I'm not even sure what kind of music Hellboy likes, but still.

Thanks!

I was going through some old stuff and found this blast from the past.

http://www.rickcortes.com/abe.jpg

This was a design I worked on with Jakob (I'm pretty sure it was Jakob) to try and create an Abe figure to match the very first HB figure that came out. I don't ever do anything like this but I thought it was fun. Note the not elegant crotch hole. :)

Good stuff! Is the Lovely Cadaver for publication or just for fun? You're getting really handy with the colouring.

Good to see the old stuff from the first Hellboy movie. Love the unfortunate placement of Abe's stick. Poor guy.

I'm putting up a ton of auctions today since I'm hemorrhaging money due to the writers strike. (Yes, it's over. But I'm not quite back at work yet.) Check 'em out!

More to come...

Maija: The Lovely Cadaver was just for fun, for a Drawing Board members fan thread. (http://www.drawingboard.org/viewtopic.php?t=61643)

Tad, gdeo, and Twyrm: Thanks!

Morna: You're nice. :) I've been taking photos of textures where ever I go and I think the one I used for this might have been some old drops of paint that have gotten all licheny with time. Glad it works!
