A while ago I brought 28 Days Later. Bloody brilliant and utterly scary stuff.

And since there was a special offer, I also got the director's cut of The Wicker Man, which was also exelent, but in a whole different way to 28 days.

I picked up Spider-Man 2 and The Bourne Supremacy today.

I got "Taegukgi" a Korean civil war film. It was released under an English name as "Brotherhood". But taegukgi is the name for the South Korean flag apparently.

Anyway it was extremely well done and is not all all biased toward the south or north koreans as one might expect. It follows two brothers who are drafted into the war and how the elder brother volunteers for suicide missions to gain favour enough to send his younger bro home. It also shows you the paranoia that war induces in people even amongst the 'good guys' fighting against the commies. Everyone who's watched it says it kicked 'Saving Private Ryan' and 'Band of Brothers' asses! So i hope you guys don't miss out on this fantastic movie!

I watched it with my brothers and at the end of it you had several grown boys tearing. :P But the actions scenes are awesome!

I really do hope this movie gets released in the US and gets a nomination for Best Foreign Film at the Oscars.

I recently got Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Hitman: Contracts, both for my ps2. paid full price for GTA:SA but Hitman was only 20 bucks, thats good considering how great a game it is and how recently it came out, so if you like stealth and subterfuge action games you may want to look for it, its porbably even cheaper if you look on-line.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King Extended Edition DVD, the additional 50 minutes was great and really adds a lot to the now 4 hour and 10 minute movie.

All are pretty damn good. Prince of Persia just looks and plays like gold, even if I am truly pathetic at it.
Silent Hill I'm hoping will improve and get more scary - I haven't jumped yet and I've been playing in complete darkness (and when I did that with Project:Zero I darn near wet myself).
Star Ocean is great fun. Feels Huge and it's eating up my hours like there's no tomorrow - but in that good, you had no idea you'd just spent four hours in front of it kind of way.

on dvd:

-Cold Mountain

-GoodFellas Special Edition.

Goodfellas is Goodfellas so of course it's great. Only watched one making of doco so far but it was pretty good.
Cold Mountain... it wasn't a let down because I'd been told not to expect much... It just didn't seem to have depth in any of the characters, neither main or supporting, and so it didn't feel as epic as it should have. I just hope Anthony Minghella can get back to the form of English Patient and Talented Mr.Ripley on his next film (then again, it says somthing about how good his films are if Cold Mountain can be called off form).
The editing also didn't seem as exciting as on the other two films - which is a big let down to me cause I've watched films for the sole reason that Walter Murch did the editing on them.

I got Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for Christmas, and I have to say that I'm embarrassed and ashamed by how much fun I'm having.

I know that the Justice League DVDs have four episodes on them, but why does this disc only have three?

The other JL DVDs had two parters. So you either had one with two episodes or four epsiodes.

What's really sad is comparing this to similiarly priced Teen Titans. They have many more episodes for your dollar.

Hubs-to-be just bought Predator: Concrete Jungle, Red Ninja and Rumble Roses for the PS2. He says Red Ninja started out as a great ninja game but then turned into a stupid platform game that he wasn't expecting. And the dubbing sucked. Rumble Roses is all cheesecake fanservice, no question about it. And Predator: Concrete Jungle was his favorite of the bunch. He's played all the Alien and Predator based games before and this is by far his favorite.

I got the Karate Kid special edition. It's a ton better than the bare bones pan n scan version initially released, and has a rather entertaining commentary track with Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita, John Avildson, and Mark David Kamen. It's fun to listen to, but just a little bit creepy the way these middle aged and elderly men keep drooling over teenaged Elizabeth Shue every time she makes an appearance.

Also House of Flying Daggers, which I thought was the best movie of last year. It's Wuxia, which is essentially the Chinese version of superheroes. Yes, they can fly and throw knives that curve around obstacles, but it's like with superhero comics. It doesn't matter how they can do these things, they just can. It looks great, good music, and it's surprisingly effective at the final showdown.

The original Cooter was protesting the lack of the TV show's "family values" were in the movie. (I'm still wondering..what family values?) They split screen and showed the two Daisy Dukes wearing identical red bikini tops to show how the movie whored it up.

Stephen Colbert interviewed him, some randy college frat guys (who want to see the movie because of the real um pair of assets Jessica Simpson has), and a rep of the NAACP.

One frat boy calls the originals gay because of the tight pants that revealed everything the Duke boys wore.

The NAACP guy protested the Confederate flag. When he said that the lynching "used to be fun, too," Colbert slyly stated that this is where I have to differ.

Colbert called the Dukes locale a "bridge-challenged" area. When he left the area he slid over the hood of the General Grant, his dark sedan with Yankee logos in the windows, got in the car which beeped some classical music notes as it drove off on a gravel road.

Look for it in reruns, because the entire episode (which started with Stewart being orgasmic over Novak's meltdown) was a riot.
