... a collection of poems by me?
I'm looking at Cafe Press, getting ready to do some T-shirts, and noticed that you can make books. I'm going to see about getting some of my previously done comics into a little binger, but until then, I'm considering a small pamphlet of my poems, just the ones that don't suck, mind you.
Or is that lame?

It's not lame at all. I'd want to see a sample before I bought, of course*, but it's something I've thought of doing too--a nerd friend of mine collected all his old comic-related columns for a book (not for sale, really--more so he had some kind of memento) and it turned out really nice.
* Wow, what a shitty friend I am.

Yeah, samples, good idea. They're all on the laptop, but good idea.
Right now I'm e-mailing the guys who drew my comics to ask if I can use the stories. I have 4 completed stories, plus one that was penciled and nothing more. If I can use those in a comic anthology, that'd be fun.

Nah, that's just practical. I didn't buy Punchy's album without hearing some samples. I'd needs one or two samples from Typo before I made the purchase, too.
A friend of mine wrote a book that so horribly sucked in every way imaginable that I can't get past page 40. I wouldn't buy it.

Well I'd love to read your poetry Morts. Poetry is fun. I'd be tempted to pay for it too, depending entirely on how much it costs. I read a lot of poetry.
Most of it comical.

I'm thinking of entitling a chapter "Oh for the love of G-d, hire a hooker!"
Here's why...
---
I think I’ve found the man of my dreams.
(Careful now, he’s not what he seems.)
He has a sympathetic ear.
(You mean he tells you what you want to hear.)
Oh, and he has the bluest eyes.
(Gaze into them while he tells you lies.)
I love his thick and curly hair.
(Do you wonder who he’s with, while you’re not there?)
I love the way he makes me feel.
(To him, none of it is real.)
No one’s ever made me feel the same.
(Has he told you yet, that it’s all a game?)
I think he may have stolen my heart.
(And when he’s gone, you’ll fall apart.)
You know, I can take care of myself.
(You always say that when your heart’s on the shelf.)
Why are you so jealous of him and me?
(Give me one reason I shouldn’t be.)
Why won’t you just let me be!
(It’s because I love you, can’t you see?)

Wow did that ever suck. I'll post better samples later.

Actually, that was pretty good. And so very, very true.
