When batman got his back broken by that punk Bane, what did he do exactly to fix it?and how long did it take him to get back tip top shape?

He'd been seeing a physician named Shondra Kinsolving even before KNIGHTFALL started (and there had been a budding romance between Bruce and Shondra). It turns out that Dr. Kinsolving had a psychic healing power that she did not previously know about. For some reason or another that I can't remember, criminals kidnapped Dr. Kinsolving and took her to some Caribbean island as their prisoner. An injured Bruce and Alfred went to the rescue. At the end of the adventure, Dr. Kinsolving used her abilities to heal Bruce's back, but the cost was her mind. Her kidnapping experience coupled with the psychic energy expended to heal Bruce's back turned her into a vegetable (and that's the last we saw or heard about her).

Bruce wasn't physically or mentally in shape to resume his Batman career immediately, though. He needed to go through retraining with Lady Shiva (see KNIGHTSEND for details).

they kidnapped her to create a machine that worked with both the dr. and shondra's mind to kill people, rather than heal....the machine, using both of their minds, was able instantly a mass amount of people

She reverted to a child-like state of mind (not a vegetable). Bruce and Tim went to visit her at the end of the story.

However, it's NOT the last we heard of her. She was mentioned in an off-hand comment by Oracle in Hush when Bruce needed surgery: "She got better". This makes me mad it didn't go anywhere within HUSH or outside of it, because I thought Bruce and Shondra were perfect together. I can't see Bruce not wanting to see her, or well, just not knowing that she is all better. It seems like sloppy writing or another red herring that she may have been Hush. "Make sure all the surgeons are active in order to be suspects!" Well, at least she didn't end up like Leslie.

This happened in Legends of the Dark Knight #61.

Can anyone clear something up for me?

Had Batman ever trained under Shiva before Knightquest? How long have they known each other?

Thanks

He's known of her, but he's never trained under her. I think Tim Drake was trained by her, though. And Batgirl2, of course.

They first met in "A Death in the Family" when her name came up as being Jason Todd's biological mother, but Batman learned that she had no children. They've tangled again in Detective Comics annual #1 and in Batman #534 and other comics.

What do you mean of course batgirl2? She was trained by Cain, not shiva.

And the person who kidnapped Shondra was her brother, I think his name was benedict asp, he had simliar power as her, but when combined the power was heightened.

After the fight which Batgirl lost to Shiva because she lost her ability to read body language and movement because her brain has been "re-wired" to learn to speak and do "normal" things, Shiva re-trained her so she could read body language and movement.

The initial training was Cain's true, but Shiva did in fact train Cassandra Cain.

I was under the impression that Batman and Shiva had encountered each other before that event, but I don't know when or where.

Oh yeah I forgot about that.

Batman listened to about 10,000 hardcore fans who didn't like that Batman was forced into retirement and thus his back was instantly healed.

Batman and Shiva actually first met in either a Batman or Detective Comics annual written by Denny O'Neil sometime in the late 80s.

IMO, I thought it would have been cooler if Parallex healed him during Zero Hour. They would have had to shift around the timeframe of things, but it could have happened, and imagine the added dimension it would have added to their relationship. Batman would have a much harder time condeming Hal's actions when he benefited from them.
