I *heart* Japanese TV 2: Sapp Time (http://www.youtube.com/?v=i1368fPLHTU)
Bob Sapp vs. School Girl
I've only had time to look at the first couple so far, but that [edited for sp.]Parkour video is incredible. Finally I see what it's all about - the video gets the athleticism and excitement across in a way that that Global Frequency issue didn't - which might indicate something about the weaknesses of comics as a medium, or more likely the failure of its artists to exploit its visual possibilities. I can't think of many artists right now who would be capable of conveying the sense of motion that would be necessary in this case - not an easy thing to do, admittedly, in a series of "stills". But I think that someone like Gene Colan might have been able to do something interesting with it.

Yeah. I think what the artist was hoping for was that people saw the Nike "Parkour" commercials and draw from that. That still wouldn't have worked though. I can definatly see Colan or a fan of Colan draw better.
Parkour is still quite new in the US. From what I'm hearing, Parkour is being regulated to skate parks or downright outlawed. Needs time to grow, y'know.
French Parkour is downright bad azz. They leap from tall buildings and stuff.

Just wanted to point out, Devo's first album came out in '76, so not quite before. More likely inspired by.

It's immature. If someone breaks the rules, the proper way to handle it is notto break the rules again, it's to see them punished for breaking the rules.
And his protests are really childish.
