Things you would like to see in 2006

With a lot of changes happening in the DC universe here are some things I would like to see happen in the Batman books:

1) Bring back COMISSIONER Gordon. The other guy just doesn't work.
2) Bring back the trophy room inthe bat cave. Giant Dinosaur, Giant Penny,Giant Joker card. These were too cool to get rid of. Where did they go anyway the bat garage?
3) Get rid of the Cassandra Batgirl. Bring back the original batgirl Costume. I would like to see Barbara in it, but I doubt that will happen.
4) Get rid of Hush. He is still a lame villian.
5) Bring back Two Face, or explain what he's been up too.
6) Stop running 12 issue story arches. If the story sucks your stuck with a years worth of bad reading.
7) Batwoman!!!

Any other thoughts.

2) Leave Cassandra alone, the poor girl had a bad year.

3) Ret-con out everything that happened in Robin after issue 120. If not then finding out Leslie lied to Bruce in War Crimes and has Steph hidden away somewhere would be fine.

I think your first requst is pretty much summed up in your edit.

1) Get some "Hush-begone". He needs to go.
2) Get some "Jason Todd-begone." He needs to go.
3) Keep Barbara as Oracle.
4) Get better writers (which should be solved)
5) Less confuzzling continuity.
6) A human, compassionate, caring Batman.
7) Make Bruce Wayne a character again and not some guy who bankrolls Batman with no character.
8) Make Joker...Joker again. He has sucked ever since NML.
9) No more pointless, shock value deaths.
10) Stop crapping on Gotham City, DC!!!
11) No Dick Grayson as Batman.
12) No new suit for Robin.
13) Keep Cassandra Cain as Batgirl. The character still has a lot of potential.
14) More Onyx.
15) Make the villains good and a viable threat to Batman. Batman's strength as a characters come from his villains being great. They aren't great anymore.
16) Make the stories character driven and not action/violence driven.
17) Bring back the "Hush" Batcave. That was simply badass. Along with the dinosaur, penny and stuff.
18) Retcon War Games and War Crimes.
19) More Shane Davis art.
20) More kickass minis.
21) Make Nightwing a character worth reading.
22) No more Winick!!! I knew I was forgetting. :D

Yes, that is a long list. I have a lot of expectations. So sue me.

And leave Cassandra alone! If you want the original Batgirl costume... fine (though I love the moody "get the f*ck back!" leather one)... but Cass as Batgirl is one of my favorite characters!

A strong supporting cast. We need Commish Gordon, Dent, Robin, Nightwing, Oracle, etc. all there! And bring in some of Batman's villains regularly. I want to see Riddler, Joker, Penguin all the time!

1. Stop the crossovers and useless year long story arcs. If a story is going to be twelve issues long then make it a seperate mini series. And having to pick up multiple titles to read a single story isnt enjoyable.

2. Stop with the mystery villians - Hush and Red Hood. Both reveals sucked and having Jason Todd return from the grave is lower than low. This formula of storytelling is equalling the spidey clone wars and the mind numbing Xmen fiascos of the early 90's.

3. Give Bruce Wayne more screen time and the Batbooks a strong supporting cast.

4. Give each Batbook their distinct feel. "Batman" would focus more on Bruce Wayne and have other superhero characters guest starring. Detective Comics would focus on Batman solving crimes and have darker stories.

5. New Villians. And by new villians I dont mean turn Dr Crane into the "Scarebeast" ughhhhh... that was the final straw (double entendre!) for me. I dropped my subscription to all Batbooks after that one.

I don't like retcons but that War Crimes arc realllllllllllllyyyyyy needs being retconned. Was it so bad that Black Mask was the one responsible for her death?

Her death is part Batman's fault, her being an idiot and finally, Leslie not saving her when she had the chance.

Batman #633 had an issue dedicated to it. Also, I know Onyx told Batman her death wasn't his fault. But that is the only other time I can recall.

Winick has basically ignored what happened in War Games and War Crimes (which I think is one of his better moves).

There was a good article on sequentialtart that summed up my problems with this. In order to absolve Batman of guilt they've been playing this 'Spoiler screwed up/caused her own death/deserved to die' bit. Killing a good character is one thing, this on the otherhand is just out and out wrong.

There is no question in my mind: Spoiler screwed up. She got in too far above her head and couldn't get out.

I don't think she deserved to die but I think there should be negative consequences for f---ing up that badly.

My problem with the post-War Games stuff is that theh writers aren't letting Batman be human in his grief over her death.

Basically, somebody has been setting Batman up to take a huge fall. Jason coming back, Spoiler dying, Leslie being a killer, we need to find out that none of this ever happened and it was al somebody pulling an elaborate Hoax on bats.

And now that the "true" Clayface has been let loose by Batman...anything could happen. Plus after GK #71, I thought that Comission Akins is sooooo dead.

Hoepfully, Hush doesn't get to become a Clayface.

2.Ret-con back Pre Knight Fall Batman ( befroe DC figured out that 30 story arcs could sucker fans in with ad sales ploys)
3.Show Bruce Wayne, he can be cool if done right
4. Get good writers that know how to make caracter driven stories.
5.Get a restraining order for Winnick and the DC Batman Editorial Crew.
6. Assign each book a theme and STICK TO IT!
7. Put Nora Fries back in a the test tube
8. Have Alfred slap the crap out of Bruce just one good time
9. Quit killing people for the sake of killing them
10. Dead men should stay dead
11. The black Mask is cool, let him run things for a while
12. Give us a GOOD Joker story that is only 3 issues long and will be alked about for th next few years. When I say good, I mean Killing Joke good.
13. Either have th Police declare war on Batman and have that as an onging plot device or have everybody kiss and make up
14. Have Bruce apologize to the people arond him for th way he treats people.
15. Try to have one story a year that is just about citizens in Gotham that the Batman helps. No supervillians mob bosses or crime lords. War On Crime was like that.
16. The use of ongoing subplots works. Try it some time.
17. Can the super villians do something orginal and truly evil?
18. Can we see the development of characters insetad of using Michael Bay style stories that are all action and no substance. Think Speilberg in Saving Private Ryan, Action and Character devlopment. It is Possible.
19. Can we see some of the high tech stuff that Batman uses?
20. Can we more of the Batcave than just the main monitor?
21. What happened to Harvey Dent?
