Welcome to X-Crescence, which is from the word excrescence, which is defined as "An outgrowth or enlargement, especially an abnormal one, such as a wart."

Well, this is an outgrowth from the X-Boards proper.

This is where you pretty much can post whatever you want.

Almost anything goes here.

You can have arguments here, you can talk nonsense here, you can insult someone, you can use profanity, can talk about any topic that you would like.

Essentially, you'd have to do something pretty damn bad before I ever even got involved moderating this thread.

So, basically, it is yours to do with as you please, so, well, enjoy.

Brian, what do you mean by this?

I read his post as saying that threads with large post counts would not affect CBR.

What he actually said was that he just did not plan on ever pruning threads, but that threads with large post counts COULD pose a problem (as the problem with the boards a few months back was specifically ONE thread that had a lot of posts on it).

So when I realized I read it wrong, I closed X-Cres 9.

I've always wondered what that sort of thing would be.

I think with this version of X-Cres, I'm gonna try to find out how far one has to go to get this place moderated.

Cool, I have a job interview, and it's practically a definite, on Wednesday, and the place is pretty close by. It pays significantly less than I used to get (though much more than I've been making on unemployment). So I figured it'd be a good job to just take for the interim until something better paying comes along.

In Predator 2, an Alien Queen skull was in the Predator trophy room.

The idea of AvP is a Good One. The execution in film, apparently not so much.

I myself think Poccy would definitely look up Dracula. Just as I enjoyed the X-men/Excalibur novel "Soul Killer" with Dracula and Belasco...

Haley? She knows I have not been able to find it. She briefly tried to re-draw it, but got really frustrated and upset when the second attempt did not go well, so she threw it away and refuses to try again.

I don't know what to do! I feel horrible about it.

Well, it's later Claremont. We wanted to have you read what interested most of us originally in the X-men, which would be his original run...

And don't forget to get the original Excalibur trade!

Do you know the title of the original Excalibur trade? I will get that. I want to read his original run to, cause I hate not being able to take part in converstations. But I cannot get the single issues. So I am going to have to try to piece it together somehow with trades. Except I will be getting the 40 Years of X-Men DVD-ROM, which will have every issue ever published. So if I have to I can fill in the blanks there.

I mainly wanted that for the searchable part tho. I don't fancy reading comics on the computer.

The question I have here is....what order are these? I like reading things in the proper order. So of all the trades I have mentioned, what order should they be read in?

Have you asked Xavier to see if he saved it from his mother's wrath?

No, I haven't. But he had no clue about any of the other things she put away, so I doubt he would know. More than likely I am the one who lost it. Although I did tell her specifically to put it on the refrigerator to keep it safe and from getting lost until I was done with mine and ready to scan them.

She never listens. I knew if it were not put somewhere like that, it would end up lost. We are going to be spending the week between Christmas and New Year's cleaning up and organizing all of my stuff. I seriously need to get my life in order.

Hey, new X-Cres!

And I ordered some tickets off Ticketmaster (and had to pay all those annoying convenience charges, which leads me to ask, what's so convenient about convenience charges?), only I accidentally entered the wrong email address so now I have to wait for Customer Service to email me back about getting my tickets sent to the right one.

Meanwhile, I have also pulled out the Uncanny X-Men: The New Age trades. Those are Claremont. Was that what I was supposed to be reading in the first place? Cause I already had those!! Now I am stuck with Chuck Austen junk.

No, you're supposed to be reading the classics.

Essential X-Men (not Uncanny) vol. 1-6.

Well, I am not supposed to open them until Christmas, but I cheated and opened them anyway :o Cause if there were going to be any reading material in there, I wanted to take it with me on my trip Sat!

So I got the Ave Q soundtrack (YAY!!) and I do not know who gave it to me!! There was no name. It came from the LWW Secret Santa.

From CBR, I got a whole bunch of X-Men minimates! I love them!! I had already bought the Kubrick set, which came yesterday, and Cyclops and Phoenix, but now I got Gajin Wolverine & Mariko, Cable & Bishop, Rogue & Mystique, and New Wolverine and Phoenix!! They are so cute. I shall take a group photo when my new digital camera comes.

I also got The Unofficial Patricia Cornwell Companion, which I find fascinating, because I did not even know there was one. I am intrigued to find out why this was included! I did not do a real list, because I had trouble thinking of things to include, but I did put the minimates. But the book was completely the choice of my Secret Santa. :)

It seems like you and I are all alone in here, Shadow Crawler. I say we vent our righteous anger and create utter mayhem. I've got LOADS of it stored up.

First, we'll post pictures that'll get us banned tomorrow when Brian sees them. Not those "I found an offensive image on the web" ones. The ones where we race to take REALLY bad pics and post them ASAP. Then we'll unload all our venom about everyone who's ever wronged us on the boards. We'll call them out by name and when we run out of semi-legitimate complaints about them, we'll just make up some lies. Of course, I'll just have to make up lies from the start because I'm not really pissed at anyone on the boards, but that's irrelevant. Then we'll exhaustively google each oh-so-deserving victim until we find some personal info on them. We'll post that up for everyone to see. Then tomorrow, when Brian bans us, we'll go start our own website for punk rock anger and occasional talk about comics and Brian won't be invited. If I don't get a personal phone call from you in 2 minutes, I'll assume that's a 'yes' and I'll start the plan. GO!

I love it, actually. Damn good money, and plenty of entertainment, thanks to the crazies we get.

Yesterday, we were really busy, so when clients entered the store, we had to have them sign in on a waitlist, before a rep could get to them. This crazy old guy was waiting for about five minutes, and then blew up at me with:

Crazy Guy: "Where's your bathroom!?!?!?"
Me: "We don't have a public one since it is in the back with all our inventory."
Crazy Guy: "Well if you don't let me use it right now, I'm gonna piss all over your floor!!!"

Cell phones just seem like a bad subject with a lot of people. The topic seems to just put them in a wretched mood, and having to come down to the store just pisses them off worse (even if the problem they're having is, in fact, THEIR fault). Add "cell phones" to the "religion & politics" list of things not to talk about in social situations.

What service are the reps selling? I work for Cingular, and we have a whole different department for corporate sales/accounts.

I agree with some people not being the best reps. If you're going to sell something to people, you kind of need to have some amount of charisma. Some of the people I work with have all the personality of a soggy paper bag.

What new Samsung do you have? One of my company phones I got the other day is a Samsung D357 (the Push-to-Talk phone). Not as great features as say, a Motorola, but I like the menu system a lot better.

SGH E33ON is a good phone. Bluetooth is great, but I can live without it... mostly because I'm hesitant to walk around with a glowing blue earpiece, and looking like I'm talking to myself. Even worse are those Bluetooth RAZRWIRE shades from Oakley... I guess they're great if you want to look like a tool...

A lot of people hate Motorola because their older models were really faulty and would crap out frequently. Their newer batch of phones (V551, V557, RAZR V3, etc.) have been awesome and are the most popular phone we sell. Very few problems with them so far. Motorola is also kind of the "Mac" of the cell phone world - they've got a very different menu system and design that just isn't for everybody.

Remember, anyone elected as XPotM during 2005 is eligible for XPotY.

Gah... see, now that's just wrong. Saying that, saying it's a given, is essentially taking God's power upon yourself, and no one should ever do that. I won't lie and say I can understand the atheist mentality (no offense, I just believe in things like True Love (tm) and other higher concepts that are beyond the ability of science to explain), and I'd certainly argue steadfastly for my religion in an actual debate, but just as I expect others to respect my beliefs, I'd never tell you you're going to Hell. I presume the reason is either to A) act out one's own ugly, hateful feelings while still remaining "good Christians," or B) scare the offender into shaping up. Except the former is absolutely a wretched thing to do, and the latter tends to not work on atheists, and just drive away people who are undecided.

I do realize that there are plenty of Christians who do not force their beliefs upon others. Unfortunately, I've been surrounded by several fanatics throughout my young life and while they don't outwardly proclaim to hate me, have no qualms about telling me to my face that they feel sorry for me and that it's eternal damnation for me. As if I'll come to my senses or something.

It started in High School when I stood up for my beliefs and argued against the concept of creation. After that, it's just been a trickle of people I meet through work and gatherings. I don't shove my non-belief down other's throats, but in the course of getting to know someone, you let things like that be known.

I make it sound like a lot of people. It's really just a handful, but those handful were interesting types. These are the same sorts that will fervently believe Buddhists, Jews, Hindus, etc...are also unenlightened and going down the same path as I. :T

For a personal experiment in college, I joined up a very religious organization on college to see what it was like. They were all very nice people who strongly believed in Christianity. I knew it was not for me, but I found it interesting to participate in fellowships with them. I never ever said I believed in Jesus and I never said I didn't. At the end of the year (my senior year), I left them and never said a word about what I didn't believe in.

Faith is just something you choose to believe in. I don't hold anything against someone who has faith in a God or Gods. It is their right to believe what they want. However, I don't want them pressing it upon me.

Not believing in Hell doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I really would not like to get into a discussion about actual religious beliefs and whatnot because it always turns ugly from all sides.

However, the point behind being an atheist is that you do not believe in a God/Gods. The concept of an actual hell is part and parcel a function of a faith's doctrine. If you do not have faith, then it is likely that you do not hold beliefs towards any feature of such faith. Threatening someone with a negative feature of a faith doesn't really hold water if the person doesn't believe in it. If I don't believe in karma, then I won't believe that my next life will be a punishment for my actions in this one.

It means that they are going against that.Well, I'd say it's true that some religions teach that others' beliefs should be respected, but I don't think (at least in Christianity) that we're taught that others' beliefs, regardless of what they are, mean they're exempt from damnation. I'm not too well-versed, but I'm pretty sure that Christians, while tolerating Jewish faith (for instance) still believe they're damned for not accepting Christ as their savior. Of course I could be wrong. Anyway, in that respect, pointing out to someone that they're damned is not going against their own teachings.

Re: Hell.

Remember that it wasn't a part of the original theology or belief structure. It was added much later as an attempt to enforce that followers would follow the word of god in their lives. That if they didn't, they'd be punished in the afterlife with eternal torment and torture. It was accused at the time of being a means of controlling those who would attend the church.

One of the good parts about having limited space in which to keep my belongings (I'm pretty much confined to my bedroom and one other closet in the house) is that I can't afford to be a pack rat and am forced to purge my wardrobe and general clutter.

I spent the past two hours going through my closet and dressers and have pulled out a big stack of sweaters, t-shirts, dress shirts, shorts, and other items that I'm getting rid of. As most of these are in good/great condition I'll offer them to my brothers, and then anything they don't want to Goodwill.

Religious groups suffer from the same problem that plagues most any other group or minority. The actions and opinions of the most vocal and outgoing section get the most exposure because they can get the higher ratings on the news and sell more magazines and papers. Doesn't matter if they are the minoirty number of said group....they are willing ti make the biggest spectacle.
