I have started reading Superman and Adventures since Sacrifice (I should say purchase, as I work through "the stack") but have not picked up Action. Am I right in assuming the events of each book (while not directly related) are all occurring simultaneously, or close as possible? When did they abandon the weekly format with the shield numbering?

I have already asked for those two TPB that collect Greg Rucka's run I hope they are under the tree for me on DEC 25th! But I have a question about what's been going on in the pages of SUPERMAN. Mark Verheiden took over duties on Superman with #217 correct? I know Brian Azzarello "For Tomorrow" story ended at #215, and #216 was the Captain Marvel/Eclipso cross over story, but besides that is there anything major I need to know about what's going on in Metropolis? Bedsides Birthright that is...And Superman/Batman...I have tried to keep up with the Mild Mannered Reviews recaps from Superman Homepage but with so much happening in the DC universe and my own little universe somethings get lost in the process. For example where the hell did Krypto come from? And whatever happened to Gurdian/Cadmus, Gangbuster and the Alpha Centurion? (95 is the last time I regularly read any superman books) Should I pick up or just read the recent Secret Files book? I hate ending five bucks for such little story, but if it answers any major questions i'll get it.

EDIT: never mind about the recommendations. I have figured it out. Thanks.

Thanks but I just want my other questions answered. I think I have figured out what TPB I'm going to pick up. I'm going to get Godfall, the two Gog books and For Tomorrow. Thouse are some of the most recent stuff and the art looks good.

The Triangle numbering format ended around the time of the end of "Our Worlds At War", a Superman crossover that affected the entire DCU. I think we're supposed to fit the events in each book our own separate ways (unless directly specified).

Sounds like there's a lot to cover.....basically, figure that most of the releases (except for Superman: Revenge Squad which was pointless) covered a major event in Superman's life. I suggest you pick up Superman titles that began in January 2004, and read Superman: Birthright as a good start. If you really want to go a few years back, there are like 5 volumes of trade paperbacks released beginning in 1999 that cover in good detail the best of Superman story arcs from the "Animated" creative team (Jeph Loeb/Joe Casey/Joe Kelly/Mark Schultz).

Good luck!
