Firstly it's ExcalibUr not ExcalibEr... :D
The issue you are refering to is, I believe, and annual. Doom actually did meet with the original Excalibur, in person, around the midpoint of the books first volume. After the passing of Illyana Rasputin Kitty Pryde inherited her Soul Sword, whether she wanted it or not. Doom approached Excalibur, claiming that the very substance of Limbo could be used as powerful fuel, for the world, and wanted Kitty's help to go to limbo and acquire it.
Of course he had no intention of sharing it with the world... but he claimed to be genuine...
Doom seizes control of Limbo and Excalibur find themselves trapped there, and an unusual guest appearance by the West Coast Avengers is necesary to get them out of there.
As for Kylun? Well, Kylun was an editorial casualty, written out of the book between issues, along with fellow teamates Micromax and Feron around the time that Colossus defected to the Acolytes in X-Men. They took this opportunity (With Captain Britain lost in the time streams and Megan pining) to cull all of the team, bar Nightcrawler, Shadowcat and Rachel Summers, and create a mutants only European X-Men.
Kylun's mutant power was, by his own admission, somewhat limited. He could vocally replicate any sound imaginable. It could come in usefull, but wasn't that great in a fight. Not that this mattered. Thanks to Widget the child, Colin McKay, who disappeared in Excalibur #2, returned fort issues later as Kylun, having grown up as a barabarian in one of the many alternative Earths to our own. He learned how to fight, and fight well.
I always wished we'd gotten to see how he would have developed given more time.

Kylun was a great character. I loved the direction of Excalibur when he, Cerise, Micromax, Widget, Feron and the mainstays were all involved.

I loved Alan Davis' additions to Excalibur too. Micromax, Kylun, Feron and Cerise were all cool characters, and I was annoyed to see them shunted off so nonchalantly.

To me, Kylun was one of my favorite swordsmen. That and his mystical swords. By the way, how did he acquire them? Were they a gift from Gateway or something?
If I am correct, the swords could only harm those with evil intentions.

That is correct. They passed straight through Nightcrawler when he first returned to Earth 616. They are enchanted that way.
As to where he got the from, I have no idea. Not sure thsat was ever explained...
