Princess Power had a shield like that in Squadron Supreme.

That is Power Princess (NOT Princess Power) from Squadron Supreme. Squadron Supreme is from an alternate universe, but have appeared within the primary MU many times. Whether this is the Power Princess that we know, or yet another alternate (such as the evil Hyperion that appeared in Exiles), is the question.

Meanwhile that pic just became my desktop.

And I hope it is the one we know. I always loved her in the original trade/mini seiries.

Yep. Picture Wonder Woman of Marvel and you know who/what Power Princess is.

So she will be the most powerfull member the Exiles have ever had.

No I think Hyperion was still more powerful then she is.

Plus we all know Beak was the most powerful they will ever have.

Beak had the most powerful bad breath on the team.

Yes. This cover represents the new team members up to this issue, with a few more possible additions to come.

Dude, totally!!! Me too! I mean, I sense you're being sarcastic and all, but no reason in the world for that, amigo- it's freakin' Longshot!!! Yes!!!
:D

Plus Spidey's pretty damn cool too. Mimic's recent death aside, things are really looking up!

Accidental. He was a geneticist who was working on developing a corporate raider for his company. Using the original Spider-Man as inspiration, he came up with a process for bestowing spider powers on a test subject, but felt that it wasn't ready for humans yet... when he was forced to test it on convicts, that opinion was proven correct. But while he was trying to fix it one night (I think), a jealous coworker shoved him into the machine and turned it on, giving birth to Spider-Man 2099!

Thanks. Does he have different powers than Peter Parker, or are his powers the same?

Fairly similar. He has the same strength, speed, and agility. He still clings to walls, but with Miguel (Spidey 2099), it's because of actual talons he can retract into his fingers, rather than some nebulous force just holding on; sometimes he uses them to slash enemies. He shoots webbing out of spinnerets on his wrists (which at the TIME was different  ), and it functions about the same as Peter's does. He wears a costume he bought at Cinco de Mayo, along with a special fabric attached to the back that lets him kind of glide on air currents to a limited extent. And I... don't think he has spider-sense, though I could just be forgetting it, I'm not sure.

It sounds like he may be a bit more violent than Peter Parker is because of the claws thing.

He definitely started out with a tougher attitude. Much more cynical, witty but with a sharper edge to it than Peter. He had basically become a spoiled ass, too caught up in his own brilliance to care about anyone else... sorta what Peter Parker might have become if he hadn't been bitten as a teenager, or if Uncle Ben hadn't died. He came around, though, and by later in his career had drifted closer to Peter in terms of general demeanor. But yeah, he used his talons in battle and wasn't above killing once in a while, if it was necessary. The crossover between he and Spidey was terrific, too. Final words to each other? "Oh yeah- love the costume!"

Thanks for the additional info on Spidey 2099. I can't wait to see Paul Pelletier's version of him.

From what I read, you are partially right. Alchemex created it as a antidote for a drug. Knowing it worked, Miguel I believe wanted to bring it out to the public. But someone drugged Miguel and knowing about the cure. He tried to use the spider-serum on himself. Because without the spider-serum Miguel would have become a drug addict. So while he was in the machine to receive the spider-serum. A jealous co-worker altered the machine and thus Spider-Man 2099 was born.

Sorry, but I have nothing but indifference to Longshot. "Poor me, I'm a rebel in a never-ending war on Mojo, all the girls get all steamed up for me and I have amazing good luck powers, woe is me!" Sorry, but when you're chest high in hot chicks who are dying to get into your pants and were basically bred to be a brooding rebel heartthrob, I can't like you or want to be anywhere near you.

Not quite right. The process *was* developed to create a corporate raider. The drug thing was separate, a way for Miguel's boss to keep him (and his genius) with the company, as the drug was several times as addictive as crack, and Alchemax was the only source. Miguel had, however, stored his own baseline genetic patterns on the machine's computers, and was attempting to overlay those on himself when the co-worker switched the matrix to half-Miguel, half-spider.

Also, he got the suit at a Dia de Los Muertos celebration. It's made of unstable molecules, and the webbing in the back allows him to glide.

Oh, and as for Power Princess, I *think* there's something special about the shield, but can't recall what at the moment.

Power Princess's shield is indestructible (kinda like Captain America's, but of a different origin).

In addition to incredible strength and stamina, Zarda has fast-healing powers, superior intelligence, flight, enhanced senses, super-speed and reflexes, and has been as thoroughly trained in martial arts as Wonder Woman, being raised on Utopia Isle.

Princess Power, on the other hand, is the mother of Inferior Five member Dumb Bunny.

Wheras Princess Powerful is a kickass superstrong 14 year old living below the La Brea tar pits.

When has Longshot ever felt sorry for himself, outside of that one arc arc in Exiles? But you must really hate Gambit, if that's how you feel about Longshot.

Getting back to the Spidey 2099 thing, thank you to everyone who supplemented the rest of the backstory. They're right, I had forgotten- because he didn't want his project to continue using human test subjects before it was ready, Miguel threatened to quit. His boss, Tyler Stone, slipped him an incredibly addictive drug, then admitted it and reminded Miggy that no one but the company could keep hem supplied with said drug, so he'd better stick around. In a last-ditch attempt, Miggy tried to use the experiment to overlay his drug-addicted current template with his genetic template from before he had taken the drug... but, as mentioned, a jealous coworker sabotaged it, giving him half spider DNA. The ultimate irony, of course, turned out to be that the "drug" was a placebo, that Stone had just been trying to bluff Miguel into staying, so the whole accident could have been avoided. Oh, those unlucky Spider-boys...

Well, Hyperion was never a member of The Exiles. He was a member of Weapon X. But I'm getting tired of them inducting members we've seen before. How about somebody new. I think it would be clever if they had a character that's remarkingly similar to a pre exisiting character that marvel doesn't have the rights to. Like have a character named Ohio Smith, who looks and acts like Indiana Jones. And get the Timebroker back. Have Heather fix the equipment, and go back home.
