I just finished reading my Showcase Presents Jonah Hex collection (what a GREAT bunch o' comics that was!) and got to wondering about George Moliterni, the artist who drew three of these stories. I've never encountered his work before and I'm amazed I haven't. His art combines the delicate modeling of Gray Morrow, the exacting detail of John Severin and the solid compositional sense of Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez. Does anyone know anything about him and what other comics he drew?

Not a huge amount of help, Kurt, but here's the link to his search on GCD.

It looks like he only did the five issues of WWT and a Bat Lash tale, that are listed.

He may be the same as Jorge Moliterni who was an Argentinian comic artist. Here's a link to his page at Lambiek.

I was thinking the same thing the other say.

It's a name I had never seen before - and I too was surprised he wasn't better known because his work was excellent.

You are also correct that this is a kick-ass collection. Reading this helps confirm my belief that western stories are timeless, as these still seem very fresh 30+ years later.

This is probably the best thing I've read in 2005.

It was for me. Also the best-drawn.

Gonna read 'em again soon!

I assume that his issue of DC Special (Three Musketeers) is listed on the GCD under Jorge Moliterni.

Totally agreed. I'd never read a Jonah Hex comic before, and I was darn-near amazed at how good these stories were.

(And I was kinda curious about George Moliterni myself. I half-guessed it was a pseudonym for... someone?)

Did anyone else pick up the Bat Lash Showcase last week? It had a really nice looking story by George Moliterni. It's funny - I don't remember his work from Jonah Hex (though I'm sure if I went back and looked for it...), but I really liked what he did here. Artistically, this was one of the strongest Showcases I've seen, 'cause it didn't matter who was doing the art, it was all great.

Of course, how could you go wrong when the other artists are Nick Cardy & Dan Spiegle....

Here's the Lambiek link (http://lambiek.net/artists/m/moliterni_jorge.htm.)

I am scratching my brain, thinking we have talked about him before. Or maybe it was a Scott Shaw! Oddball article. Or maybe Comic Artist...

I think this is the thread where we talked about him previously (it is originally from 2005). I resurrected it (due his story in the Bat Lash showcase).

I just figured why start a new thread when we had a perfectly good one which was (sort-of) relevant.
