View Full Version : I think I'm going to return the last year's worth of Detective Comics

I know I should have just stopped buying the title after the first issue or two of City of Crime. As the story went along I definitely got more confused, but I also got more and more bored. I didn't care. I just kind of skimmed the last two issues.
So I think I'm going to return them.
Not to my local shop, 'cause it's not his fault the book was sub-par for a year. I'm going to mail them back to DC. I won't demand or expect a refund, because that's just not how it works. My hope is that by returning all 12 issues, rather than just not buying the last couple, someone at DC will understand that at least one reader (customer) thought that a whole year of one of the longest running comics was a total waste.
Anybody ever do anything like this before?
Anybody want to join me?
Does anyone even remember that they're still putting out new issues of Detective Comics each month?

You've had them for a year and you expect to be able to return them?
I don't think it works that way...
EDIT: Sorry, I misunderstood your post. However, I still think it is a futile attempt...I doubt anyone there will care.
However, if I was going to return a title, I would return the last year or so of Legends of the Dark Knight. And I would DEMAND my money and even my time back. What a waste.

That's what I did.

I honestly intended to not buy the last couple of issues, but I hardly pay attention to what's in my file when I go into the shop, except for those six months where he pretended to forget to pull Captain America for me, but that's another story. I've had to start scheduling an hour in my calendar because I just hang out and talk to the owner so much.
So now that I have them, I know I'll never reread them. I guess I could give them to a library or school or something, but I don't want people to think that this is what all comics are like.
Of course, before I send them off to New York, I'll have to find all 12 issues.

Give them to a hospital. Trust me... you'll feel good!!
I bought them... read them and promptly forgot them.
If I were gonna send anything it would be Hush Knights. You know the one... it was formerly known as Gotham Knights that starred that Bat guy on occasion.

i liked it.
And I'm sure you're not alone. I just thought these are some of the worst comics I've ever read.
And I have an almost complete run of Nomad.

Then when he did show up, he was an absolute moron who forgot he was Batman!!! Honestly, I'm only on board to see two things: How bad the trainwreck gets and Hush crippled.
Than you DC for another boring ass villain.
As for City of Crime, it finished strong but the middle was...boring. The ending fit the story.
Yes, the "inconclusive" conclusion. I still don't have any freaking clue what the hell happened. I try to "logic through it" but doesn't work... :o
There's just not enough information provided. Maybe that was the point. Who knows.
I think if you gave them to the hospital, you would just make the patients get bigger headaches.

I'll bag, board and file it and likely never read it again.

Probably the same here...
Unless I'm really board some night and for some reason wanna figure out "What was the body?", "Who was the head?", "Who blew up the Waterfront Project?"
I think Batman blew the Waterfront Project up but I'm not sure.
Or...I'll just re-read Action Comics #834. That, my friend, is an issue worth re-reading.
