Dunno if anyone noticed but they're making a friggin' WITCHBLADE MOVIE! Actually they're making two! Can't believe this ain't gettin discussed! You wanna see eye candy or talent (or both) for sara? did you like the tv show? do you think this paves the way for other 'semi-indie' titles like FATHOM to be adapted? Are you glad they're making a movie or is it a bad idea? DISCUSS!

wow. really thought an image board would have a lot more hype over a duology being made of it's flagship title.

For some reason, there's very little discussion of Witchblade - or ANY Top Cow book for that matter - on this forum.

These films could be good, or they could suck. Could go either way. I'm definitely okay with it having nothing to do with the Yancy Butler series. A fresh start is a good idea.

I'm hoping that they portray the Witchblade properly this time. It didn't look right in the series. Not 'organic' enough. When active, there should be tentacles and spikes flying all over the place.

And, imo, one change they should make is to have the 'blade permanenly bonded to her wrist. I've never been happy with the idea that she can take it off and throw it away at any time.

I see nothing about this project getting the greenlight on IMDB. Not that they know all and see all, but hey they are usually pretty acurate.

As far as an actress to play the part. How about Salli Richardson? She may not be built with quite the curves of Sara, but she's not really a bad actress and she has more the ethnic look I would like to see play the part. Another thought might be Michelle Rodriguez, but I'm not sure I like her for the part. I'd have to see.

Jessica Biel could play a good Julie.

But let's get someone who can actually act to play Sara and not just some eye candy.

Yancy Butler was spot-on perfect as Sara, I would have a very hard time picturing anyone else in the role.

If Angelina Jolie wasn't already the face for Lara Croft. I could see her playing a decent Sara.

If Hillary Swank could do a decent job IMO.

I've got the PERFECT person to play the lead. Rhona Mitra. The girl from Skinwalkers, Life of David Gale+ Shooter. She's a fresher, more modern version of Yancy Butler.

i can't believe no one has thought of jill wagner from the blade t.v show!
she is perfect!! she's gritty has the curves and if u saw the scream awards 2006 knows how to wield gun! jessica alba would make a great julie tho.

Personally dont consider 'Witchblade' as Image's flagship title...

A movie would be cool, with a bit of CGI invovled in the transformations, but keeping as much 'real' prosthetics as well....get Stan Winston on the effects, Neil Marshall behind the camera (he knows strong female characters, just look at what he did with 'Descent') and Charisma Carpenter or Christina Ricci as Sara....tho, I could be biased as I'd watch either of them in anything.

We just covered this on my website www.girlsentertainmentnetwork.com.

As I stated there, I would LOVE to see a fresh face cast as Sara. While it's nice to see people we recognize from other movies, I feel that - for comics especially - it makes the character more believable if it's someone you have NEVER seen before! I think we saturate Hollywood with the same faces. Let's bring in some new blood for these upcoming flicks!

I agree. Although I have nothing against Yancy Butler, I just think that a fresher and younger face would help spice up the movie. I mean, honestly speaking, I did not enjoy the 2001 witchblade movie. It just lacked so many things

I agree. We need an undiscovered. We need someone who IS Sara. I mean, don't get me wrong ... Robert Downey Jr. was famous before Iron Man but he IS Tony Stark. If there is an actress out there who embodies Sara ... that's all I care about. I just don't want to see it going the way of Tomb Raider... let's just get a hot Angie to play Lara! Not the way to go.

I wonder if this "new" version will take off any more than the last time they were planning a Witchblade movie.

I was recently thinking about how well Ron's run on WB would adapt to a feature, and thought long & hard (no puns intended folks) about who could carry it as Det. Pezzini. Now into her 30s and burdeoned by her responsibilties and lack of a normal life....still attractive, but more mature and dynamic....Then, watching this actress take full responsibilty last week over Law & Order in an episode where she was central...she seems to have the look and the strength to pull it off (enough already people!)...it hit me like an ancient arcane artifiact...that she could wield the Blade...gorgeous, strong...looks good in a suit or skinny jeans... Alana de la Garza. Obviously not from an Italian family, but has the goods to be a Pezzini anyways.

The series was not as good as the comic, but still watchable. Yancy Butler as Sara was a so-so choice.

I mean, its not like in Dead or Alive here, you don't have to get 5-6 girl with big boobs, just one, so they need to get an actress who can fill the form. Im not saying she need to be double D, the comics are always exagerated, but at least have some goodies. Jessica Beil or Rhona Mitra are some choice i would really like as Sara.

As for the girl not very known, there is the Gabrielle X girl from the movie Pigs (no its not a porn) , she is very hot, and is not really known yet, haven't done more than 5 thing and the only one i ever saw was Pigs. Her name is Melanie Marden.

As for Charisma...well i do love Cordy and she have the good to fill the role, but she is getting a bit old, i don't think they will go for the older version of Sara of the actual comic book, i mean she is now a momy and all, but in a movie they will probably start from the beginning.

By the way here is the IMDB page http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0494292/

Hey Gang,

Here's the brand new official teaser site for the movie -
http://www.witchblade2009.com/

You can sign up to stay informed on the film's developments through the site as well. And before you ask, no the model pictured in the teaser poster is not the actress who will portray Sara in the film. It's just a tease;)

Take care,
