I never thought I could go for the puffy sleeves, but I love this look. That is a fantastic outfit.
Overworked artists will curse Jamal for generations over all this detail. :)

Nice. I'm wearing a poofy-sleeved shirt as I type this, so you know I approve of the look. But I'm especially glad to see the face squiggles are gone. What the hell were the point of those things?

With the puffy sleaves returning does this mean Ronnie Raymond will share the Firestorm matrix with Rusch again ? I like the artwork Jamal nice... :)

well Ive said this before, and Ill say it again, I love Igle's work. One of my favorite artists. And this is exactly why. The attention to detail without losing the fun and cartoonishness (?) of superheroes. I just got one question: FS looks bigger. Is this just because of the puffy sleaves, or is this an intentional increase in mass?

Great shot of the costume, but I can't say I was in the bandwagon that wanted to see Jason's costume overhauled a 3rd time. I like Jamal's pencils but it's hard to let of ChrisCross' initial designs (with the tight spandex costume, and squiggly lines).
I honestly think the squiggly lines are cool ;)

Are those stars in the shadows of his costume? Was he a little too close to Donna Troy?

They're crosses....An indication to the inker that the shape is black. Notice the same thing is in the bar at the top and bottom of the page?

Is the Firestorm series any good right now? Worth getting?
Is the Firestorm series any good right now? Worth getting?I think it's very enjoyable. Even the crossover tie-ins (which I usually dislike) are good. I'm looking forward to picking up the new issue this weekend.
I think this new Firestorm character is pretty good. He's a hard-luck hero like Spider-Man originally was. There's a lot of drama is how tough his life can be.

Jamal's work on #8 to the present (except #11 IIRC) has been as good as Kevin Maguire's best day. The facial expressions are life-like and give substance to the thin dialogue, IMO.
I hope that Jason and his dad merge so Mr. Rusch can grow his hand back. I remember that being one of the effects of merging. You can be healed if you get stabbed before merging into Firestorm.

Meh. It's not a book I really buy. It just doesn't get me there, ya know? I want Ronnie and Stein back, damn it all. And Firehawk.
Oh, and the new costume BLOWS BIG TIME.

I have to disagree about the thin dialouge part, but its true that Igle makes it pop. Also i hope Jason and his Dad dont merge, but it looks like thats where this is going seeing as how his dad was a nuclear technician. His dad is too abusive and Jason gets too nervous around him. Of course, with the new direction their relationship could change drastically.

If they go the Prof. Stein route and have Jason's dad unable to remember their adventures as Firestorm, it could lead to some quality Peter Parkerish pathos. "The times I feel closest to my father are as Firestorm. When we are merged he becomes not not only my father and partner... we are really growing as freinds. Yet, he's just the same as he ever was when we are unmerged."
I really like the redesign of the chest emblem, gloves, and boots.
POOFY SLEEVES RULE!
