View Full Version : Who Should Become What and Why

Considering all the shake-ups that are going to take place following Infinite Crisis, what do you think should happen with the heroes and villains, who should die, who should take anybody`s place in a particular role, even creating other identities for others...?
Here are my choices:
Sentinel/Alan Scott= The New Spectre
Given his wisdom and how he represent a certain heroic spirit and has been doing it for a long time.
Dick Grayson=New Batman
I like this particular idea because he deserve it and it would give us a lighter less dark more action-oriented Batman(givenhow Dick was in New Titans)
Tim Drake + Connor Hawke= Nightwing and Flamming Bird
Remember the pre-Crisis Superman characters the same name? I thought they were awesome and looked like more mature version of Batman sidekicks. Well Drake and Hawke fit the description pretty well. I also always wish to see a duo of partners kicking ass in comics and it never happened`(it`s always been top guy and sidekick not equals).
Power Girl= Superwoman
She would be revealed as the Kara of the Crime Syndicate Universe, that`s where her temper would come from.
Catwoman= New Batwoman
Earth 2 Superman= One True Superman
Current Supergirl= Goes to the Legion of Super-Heroes
What I would do is reveal that she`s from that futur and join the group. She`s a daxamite like Mon-El(her cousin) and he in turn also chamges his identity to Superboy. I would also reveal that Daxam would be a relatively new planet, created when Superman and his descendant left Earth(when The Fortress of Solitude became a space-ship) and populate another planet.
Earth 1 Superman/There since 1986= Grown up Original Superboy
Infinite Crisis ends he and and current Lois go leave happy and ever after in another Universe.
What changes would be logical or exciting?
What would you like to see happen?

No offense, but none of that.

Wizard has hinted that Kid Flash might become the new Flash, which I think would be excellent. It would really show him that he needs to grow up. Considering he can remember what he reads, he has the potential to be a powerful hero indeed. And I would like to have Captain Boomerang II come into play, considering the fact that they are brothers.

Personally, I would like Kal-L to stay in the DCU, but instead of being 'Superman', he would take on the role of some sort of 'universal' guardian. I don't know...'Monitor' sorta has a ring to it.
Plus, Supergirl and Powergirl are becoming Nightwing and Flamebird in OYL.

Who should become what and why?
In my opinion?
OK then.
Arthur should be a major A-list player who would automatically bitch-slap anyone who calls him "Aquaman" just on pure principle. Why? Because he's in charge of 70% of the world, man. That's got to count for something.
Lex Luthor. Fugitive style ON-going series. 'Nuff said.
Martian Manhunter should die and Captain Marvel should make his way into the Wildstorm universe. Why? Because I'm tired of Superman clones existing in his own damn universe.
Enough for now.

I'm probably going to catch a lot of crap for this, but I want to see Jason Todd as Batman for a few months. Nothing long term, no more than six months at most. I think that a lot of great storytelling can come out of this.
With Jason as Batman, he would kill. Criminals would start to fear Batman again. Like Jason said, they all know (at the moment) that Batman won't kill them. After Bat-Todd offs a few gangsters and drug dealers, the criminal world will start buzzing. When Bruce comes back, he won't have to be such a dick, because he won't have to try so hard to scare criminals. Plus, you get the "Batman vs the cops" storylines that I always find to be a lot of fun. Bruce would be forced to show that "the other Batman" did it, while not giving away who he is.
What do you guys think? I see some potential in Jason Todd being Batman for a few months.

Not Jason Todd, but still the same type of concept.

not earth 2 supes as the one-and-only. just won't work. they gave that up about 40 yrs ago. I think he should stay though. that universal guardian idea really works for me
I think that you're on track with regards to the superwoman/powergirl stuff. certainly there will be a supergirl in the losh and I bet it will be one or the other .. and the other will stay in the 21st century.
I think bruce will remain batman.
I don't think scott will become the new spectre. I bet it will be some cop from gotham. or the ratcatcher. YES THE RATCATCHER AS THE NEW SPECTRE> MUHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAH

Kal-L should think that Earth having two Supermen is spoiling them and with a now dead Lois-2 nothing ties him to Earth either. Thus Kal-L goes on a journey across space to right wrongs and the usual. Write him almost as a Old-West style loner who goes from planet to planet just looking to escape his long-forgotten past.

Now that would be a good story, at least once.
Cast Lobo as the renegade, E-2 Superman as the sheriff, and you got a good story there.
Let's see him take Lobo on. ;)

I'd like to see PAD's idea for Arthur Curry to become a Water Elemental a la Swamp Thing and Firestorm become reality, i.e. for him to become a true "Aqua-Man."
I'd also like to see Supergirl go to the LSH. She's pretty much a blank slate at this point anyway and I think Waid could do a good job with her.
I'd like to see as little mucking about with the Legion or JSA as possible. They've suffered enough.
As for Batman, only Bruce Wayne is the true Batman.
I really couldn't care less what happens to either Superman or Wonder Woman. Neither character has been the least bit interesting to me for years.

Agreed. And I hope she *stays* there. And we can have our Linda D. back. :o

If it were up to me, everybody would go back to being what they were circa 1977-1984.

If the Hal Jordan/Spectre merger proved anything, its that merging two good characters together doesn't always produce anything worth reading. I think DC should tread carefully before trying anymore mergers unless they've really thought it through past the first storyline or two. Granted, the GL/Spectre merger was so badly bungled, perhas there's only room for improvement at this point.
I think the now late Golden Age Batman becoming the host for The Spectre would offer some really nice story possibilities...
how about this .
kal-l becomes the protector of space while kal-el becomes the protector of earth.

Maybe The Ray could become a new Starman.
Connor Hawke should become something, just so Didio doesn't consider him expendable. No idea what though.

I hope there are two Supermen when this is over. Kal-El in Superman and All-Star Superman and Kal-L in Action Comics. Kal-L would have a bit more flexibility as a character because Lois is dead and he has few, if any, close relationships.
Bruce Wayne is the only Batman, but having Dick Grayson take the mantle for a few months would be a nice change of pace. I can't see anybody but Selina Kyle as Catwoman, but it looks like DC is going to temporarily retire her. Jason Todd is fine the way he is, if not a bit overexposed. Tim Drake shouldn't change, either.
Wally West should stay Flash. I like Bart and think he should be Flash down the road, but he's simply too young at the present. I like the way they are slowly developing him in Teen Titans.
JSA shouldn't change. If it aint broken, don't fix it. A Dr.Mid-Nite ongoing would be pretty cool, but that aint gonna happen.
The Green Lanterns have just had a major shake-up, and so far it's been working with a top-selling mini and two good ongoing series. I see some good stories in the future, too, so I hope there's no major shakeup.
I like the idea of Donna Troy as Wonder Woman. It's a shakeup without pissing off the loyal fans too much. And I've always thought Donna was more interesting than Diana anyway. Not that i'm saying Diana should die, because I don't like the idea.
Take Mia out of Teen Titans. I don't like her character and I don't think she fits in the current group. other than that, this team is good.
Cancel Outsiders. Very weak for the most part. The characters aren't very likeable.
