I've heard lots of rumblings, someone told me it's in LITG and no I havn't made this up!
I will be all over this if it's true!

Doesn't matter what light Rich put on it, right now it's just a rumor.

I've never even heard that rumour...it hasn't spread very far. *Shurgs*

Was just posted today on LITG. It's unlikely, but Marvel is horribly fickle.
SECONDARY MUTATION
It's not just the world of mutants that's changing after "House Of M." The comics are also going through yet another revamp and creative shift, before the next movie comes out and before the 500th issue of Uncanny X-Men. Ed Brubaker is favourite to write "Uncanny X-Men," while Chris Claremont is being shunted off the central titles yet again...

This would be awesome, but I would rather have him take over for Milligan on X-Men, so I could start buying the book again.

I'd rather someone else take over New Excalibur and adjectiveless... (Brubaker and BKV, respectively).
We'll see. Marvel does more bloviating than anything else.

X-men sure...but New Excalibur? It's only 2 issues in.

They'd just cancel New Excalibur. It was CC's pitch, they're not going to change writers for it. :p

Adjectiveless and Uncanny should take a break... stop being printed...the x-and Brubaker should start an all new title. There should be 2 titles, that and astonishing.

Frankly, if anyone writer needs to go it is Milligan. But remember about this time last year, there was a big rumour that Greg Pak would be taking over the book. Is it a coincidence that both men wrote a high selling mini-series in the x-line? NO! If the rumour is true, then I am done with Marvel aside from the remaining Claremont books.

I'd give it a try, that's for sure. Although I do worry about Brubaker being overextended these days, he's a helluva better writer than the X-books have going otherwise.

They'll never discontinue the flagship book. And Astonishing won't be around after Whedon leaves. But given that Whedon and Cassidey can't deliver their book in a decent timeframe, the next 13 issues will drag on forever.

Still... X-men is such a mess.. they need to cut down and start fresh. Brubaker is awesome. He'd rule on a title... but I wouldnt want him to be bogged down.

The only problem with Brubaker is that everything he writes is basically the exact same 'Dark Secret From The Past Comes Back To Haunt Them' storyline. I can't see it working in a book that ships 18 issues a year. It would get horribly redundant after a while. At least CC isn't as much of a one trick pony. Don't get me wrong, I like Ed's work. But it's better in a miniseries format than in an ongoing.

I could be mistaken, but I don't remember Brubaker's Catwoman being like that.

It's likely the exception, not the rule. He's even admitted here that it's sort of his thing. :)

What mess?
They have 3 main books, Uncanny, X-men and Atonishing, Astonishing having seasons.
Then it has a few solo series, a few other team/book and some minis.
It's probably has less books then Avengers characters.

Well, since the only thing Beast has ever read form Brubaker is the 1 issue of X-Men:Deadly Genesis that has shipped, I would not take his word about anything Brubaker has written ;) .

What, have you read like two things he's done? That in no way describes his overall body of work. Try Sleeper, A Complete Lowlife, or Gotham Central.

Huh? The only "dark secret from the past" story I've read from him has been Deadly Genesis. His Cap story isn't so much a "dark secret" story as it is the most creative and logical way to bring Bucky back (assumg it IS Bucky), and I've seen no "dark secret" stories in his Authority, Gotham Central, and Sleeper runs. The guy is hardly a one trick pony.

I think you misunderstood a bad interview or something. He's got one story like that out of his entire output.

Why not go out and buy some of his other stuff besides Deadly Genesis, and then come back and talk about him being a 1 trick pony ;) .

Beast, Brubaker is not a 1 trick pony. Just reading Cap... I have never loved the character or title so much.. and it's his single issues and dialogue that are awesome... there really isn't a dark secret from the past there... I think that's just Deadly Genesis... and even on that title we're getting more than just that.
Now as for what mess... the fact that you've said just a "few"... you can't even keep track of the number.. it's so messy. Most of the books end up being cancelled, too. The franchise really doesn't need any solo titles. X-Men work best as a team, even Wolverine. Have a larger group of X-Men on a title that rotate. That would work.
