Marshall Rogers was in town for a show this weekend and told me that another Dark Detective mini has just been green lighted.
He couldn't say much about it, but he did tell me this:
Bruce heads off to England--after the last one and the Silver situation he needs to get out of town. This one will have Deadshot!!!

I agree!
I suggest....... BATMAN!
Get Winnick off before he ruins the character!

Fantastic news. Englehart/Rogers/Austin is one of the truly great Batman creative teams, and Dark Detective showed that they've still got what it takes to tell great Batman stories.
I'm definitely on board for this one.

Good man. If you haven't read these before ,you're in for a treat. If you have, then you know just how good this run was.

Seems like good news, though I wasn't impressed all that much by the last DD storytelling. Hopefully this 'arc' will improve.

I have the Strange Apparitions trade and the Shadow of the Bat mini series that reprinted the issues as well... now for the originals! LOL

Part of what made the last DD really good was that Bruce Wayne was actually a character in it.
It would be so cool for Englehart & Rogers & Austin to be on one of the regular books but I don't see it happening. Especially since Didio took so long to okay this one and hasn't committed to a third one yet. Marshall said he and Englehart were trying to get the go ahead on this one quite a while back but Didio took his sweet time.
For Englehart/Rogers fans: they have a what if coming up from Marvel (What if the FF were cosmonauts?) and a Black Mask special as part of Marvel's upcoming Western month. I'll be picking them up.

There's nothing I like more than seeing a fan dedicated to collecting great comics. Good luck with the back issue hunting.
thomasej: Thanks for the heads-up. I'll definitely check out those Marvel issues.

Part of the fun (and expense) of being a collector is getting that treasure!

I have a near complete Avengers run... missing 15 issues. MANY years ago now I was at a convention and was looking for Avengers 100. I am pretty grade specific so I try and get VF copies at minimum (and get the highest grade when there's a choice) and I ran across an Avengers 100 in VG. There were 40+ dealers at the show so I thought I'd look around. I'd been hunting the book fr about 2 years and this was the FIRST copy I'd seen... so if worse came to worse I could come back and buy it and upgrade later.
I circled the room and no other dealer had one... so I went back to the first guy... as I was walking towards him I saw him handing the Avengers 100 over to another guy! I was 2 feet away as the transaction was being completed. I was bummed.
So I thought I'd be able to fond another fairly quickly... I was going to a con every couple of weeks at the time... how hard could it be?
Flash forward 7 (yes SEVEN!) years later and I walk into a dinky little closet of a store in Montreal and haphazzardly ask the guy if he has an Avengers 100... fully expecting the same answer I'd gotten over the last 7 years, which is some variation of "No."
He says (and I even remember the inflection in his voice!) "yeah, it's in the back. Let me go get it." I was expecting something in the G-VG range... but he hands me a pristine copy and sells it to me for $10.00 under guide because (get this!) he's had a hard time unloading it!!!!!! (NOTE: This is all before eBay)

I'm nowhere near a comic show now... so I just have to be patient! I'm also trying to finish my Green Lantern run by Neal Adams. I'm missing 2 or 3 issues of that.

Was the Dark Detective mini a retroactive story or was it set "today"?

It was set today... but the continuity was loose. Two Face was still uncured, and they made reference to some stuff that Crisis wiped out like Batman's multi-coloured suits.

Man, do I love reading these kind of stories. It reminds me of the good old days of comic collecting, before the Internet made it so much easier. There's nothing I loved more than the thrill of the hunt (man, I'm getting old).
I'm also Jealous. Avengers 100 is one of the 8 or so issues I'm missing from my Avengers collection.

Thanks. I have wanted to jump back into a bat title, but I have disliked everything since right after Hush. I think I'll stick with the Monster Men mini and back track the Dark Detective story.
