I was reading around and recently found out about a few teams based on Marvel characters and was wondering if anybody could direct me to more info on them.

The first team was called the Crusaders. Two teams with that same nme appeared in in both Invaders and Freedom Fighters in the same month. The Marvel version was based on DC's Freedom Fighters while DC's team was absed on Marvel's Invaders. I was able to find pictures and a bit more info on the marvel side, http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/4775/crusaders.html

But can't find any info on the DC team.

Also, while I wondering if anybody knew whatever happened to the Assemblers of Angor (an Avengers based team.)

The DC Crusaders were led by (someone correct me if I'm getting the name wrong) Americomando, a sheild carrying "hero" who was actually the Freedom Fighters' enemy the Silver Ghost. The Ghost recruited four young men (who bore stricking resemblances to Roy Thomas, Marv Wolfman, and other Marvel creators at the time) at a comic convention and subjected them to a ray that turned them into thinly veiled versions of Bucky, Namor, Torch and Toro.

While the Marvel versions (except for Dan The Dyna-Mite) gave up the Nazi tech that gave them their powers, I don't think the status of the remaining DC Crusaders' powers was ever resolved. (Did the ray finally wear off?)

If you're interested, the New Teen Titans once battled a group of artificial humans called the Recombatants. Meanwhile, over in the DNAgents book by Eclipse (I think), they battled a team called Project Youngblood or something like that. This was a similar situation to the Crusaders crossover you mention.

Most of The Assemblers were killed off.

I think that's why you have The Maximums in Loeb's Superman/ Batman arc.

Marvel's Shi'ar Imperial Guard--who appeared in Uncanny X-Men #107-108--are based on DC's Legion of the Super-Heroes.

Yeah, but the original question wasn't about DC inspired characters in the Marvel Universe. This is the reverse of that question. Marvel inspired characters appearing in DC Comics.

Even a Spider-Man type appeared in Superman/ Batman, an homage to The Death of Gwen Stacy scene.

Justice Leage Europe fought a group of interdimensional villains called the Extremists. It was thinnly veiled versions of Sabretooth, Doc Ock, Dr. Doom, Magneto and Nightmare(??) one of those interdimensional baddies.

Later they turned out to be robots from Disney World.

That was weird.

Though it's certainly debatable.

Man, the Extremists were great villains. I'd love to see them back in a major way, but DC always seems reluctant to use their homage/rip-off characters on a recurring basis.

I'm going on memory here; somewhere I have the FF issues with the Crusaders and I will try and complete the list of members; the two that I am sure of are the Americommando and Rusty. I think the Subby homage was Barracuda. I can't recall the names of the Torch dopples. To the archives!

Extremist Dreamslayer was the Dormammu equivalent.
Also, IIRC, he was the only one that was not a robot.

In a Legionaries Annual, while XS was bouncing around the time stream, she met some Avengers knock-offs in the far, far future.

I don't remember much about them. The Captain America guy had a really ugly costume, the Thor girl used the Spear of Destiny, the Iron Man girl was named Metallica, and the Hulk guy was blue.

There's also Blue Jay, Silver Sorceress, and Wajinda (sp?) from Giffen's JL.

The Captain America guy in that Legionnaires Annual was an old DC character, Gary Concord the Ultra-Man. :)

Those are (were - only Blue Jay is still alive, IIRC) members of the "Heroes of Angor". Their enemies were the Extremists as mentioned above.

When Steve Englehart wrote the Justice League, one of his stories featured Willow, a woman with an eerie resemblance to Mantis (of the Avengers) meeting Aquaman, Atom, and Elongated Man.

Wandjina, Blue Jay , SS and Jack B. Quick first appeared in JLA #87 (Feb. 1971).
Giffen revived 3 of them in the 80's. I guess it's just as well he didn't bring back Jack.
