What did everyone (anyone?) think?
I, for one, am really happy this book is back. Gerber et al wasted no time plunging us right back in, showing how things have progressed, what came before the beginning and drawing some nice parallels between Ethan's high school and prison experiences.
Looking forward to the next issue.

I wanted to read the first season of HardTime but the comic shop I work at diidn't order it. So you can imagine how happy I was when my boss ordered season 2. I hope no one is scared away simply because it's season 2 the first issue is a great jumping on point. I vastly enjoyed this book.

By around issue #8 of the first season, Hard Time was by leaps and bounds the best book DC was publishing. One issue into the relaunch, it still is. While some of the story momentum has slowed, issue one gave us the most in-depth look into Ethan's character yet while introducing a new subplot focusing on a human rights media group that will undoubtedly prove thought-provoking. I'm so glad this book is back, and hope this time people will pick it up.

Yes--- If people don't pick it up, it'll go the way of the dodo.
Still my favorite comic! It's been a while.. And: Still.
You know, I hope it at least gets a whole "season", in order to tell the rest of the tale. I think, sadly the best we can really hope for is 11 issues more?

I added this title to my pull list, but am waiting to read the previous run. I ordered book one, which is only issues 1-6. Are they actually going to make a second tpb soon?

THis was a very good issue. I'm missing the last four issues of the first run they were sold out by the time I got into the series during the end of whole line (including the wonderful Kinetic). I don't think that DC is coming out with the secound trade until they see how this series goes. If it could be moved to Vertigo I think it would help it out so much better though. People have differant expectations from a Vertigo book versus a DCU book.

Great issue. Enjoyed it alot. Hard Time is definitely one of DC's best. I hope they consider raising the price on it before the think of cancelling it. I would rather pay 3.50 every month for Hard Time then not have it at all. I think this season of Hard Time is going to be mind blowing. New characters are introduce including a new villian and Ethan may have the chance to get out of jail. It's going to be a wild ride!

It's a fantastic book. Been reading since issue #1.
I wonder if it is now in the DCU contemporary or if it is still in it's own universe? It's not like they can't go one way or the other.
If it's in it's own universe, it might be fun to see one of the guys from the armor book get tossed into the slammer with him.

I like it too. I got hooked by reading the first trade. I'd like to read the final half of the first season, though.

My shop told me the tpb didn't ship does anyone know if that's true? What tpb are you talking about? The first trade came out more than a half-year ago. DC has yet to announce plans for a second one. Grr. I dunno why DC would put out a Season Two if they're not even going to try to support it.
I would encourage everyone to just start reading the series with Season Two. The first issue pretty much brings you up to speed. (But by all means, pick up the rest of Season One when you have a chance. Phenomenal stuff.)
The first issue was good, though not quite as good as the last 11 issues of Season One. I'm mildly concerned, because I hated the preachy courtroom drama of the Season One, Issue 1, and it looks like that'll be a major focus of Season Two. We'll see how the creative team handles it this time around...

NOT EVEN TRY TO SUPPORT IT?!?
DC has been going out of its way to pimp this book....there's a full-page ad for it in Infinite Crisis #3, it was the main story on the back page of all the October DC comics (including Infinite Crisis #1, which EVERYONE read).
I think DC has been doing a great job. Now it's up to the boneheaded fanboyz to give something new a chance.

Is just one ad and a bit of stuff on the website enough? They do that for nearly every book. Both the big companies do that, there whole house ads and poster ooooooh. But they are pushing it just as much as any other book, save Crisis of course.

Making this a DCU book would ruin everything that's great about it. Don't be fooled just because the DC swirl is on the front.
I think the very fact that this book still exists means DC supports it to a degree, but putting out a second trade paperback would be an even stronger show of support.
yes, I'd prefer this was under another imprint; but I've been reading since #1 and will continue, even though I've grown to hate buying comics with advertising interrupting the story. Gerber's still one of the best writers around. I'd like to see him get another project, something of his own creation, not an established character (unless he wanted to return to Man-Thing or whatever).

Last year I felt there were three great comics by DC that no one was buying: Hard Time, Fallen Angel, and Monolith. One has gotten a second chance. There has been no drop off in the quality. Not one single bit. Great drama. Even stuff that could be considered cliché gets original takes. Please jump on board before we are left with yet another failed attempt to do something different in the medium.

I read it finally and it wasn't bad. Given that I just got and read the tpb, it was pretty much recap. The legal stuff isn't boring but it's not very compelling. Still, not a bad set-up issue.

I wouldn’t call it all recap. The series originally opened with the shooting, so how they got to that point is all new. I found it interesting but I can see how backstory might not hold everybody’s attention when they know its backstory, when they know there are current events waiting to be explored. Still, a jumping on point. If it works, it’s worth it.

FALLEN ANGEL v.2 #1 appeared in comic stores this week under the IDW banner. Peter David's still writing it, but the art is by some guy who does photo-realistic painting (or faux-painted photography).

Yeah, I know. I was thinking in terms of DC and them handing out second chances. Fallen Angel got a two-issue reprieve. Peter David pretty much mortgaged his soul to the company for that, and that’s why he’s gone. On the plus side, at least Marvel is using him. And even though Monolith didn’t make it, DC appreciated Palmiotti and Gray’s efforts and gave them Hawkman and now Jonah Hex. So it’s not all bad. Since Hard Time did get its second chance, I can’t complain. Shouldn’t, anyway.

Just got around to reading issue #1 (I get my comics monthly) and it was great. Letting issue one bring new readers up to speed and refreshing old readers was a good choice. I like the back story of what actually took place before Ethan and Snodd pulled their shooting spree (well just Snodd's). I hope this title does well because it is one of the better ones out there.
