After HBP thare has been dome talk about the possibility that Draco would redeem in Book 7 and join the good guys in the fight against Voldemort.

So I was wondering do you think Draco deserves to be redeemed or do you think he should get what he deserve?

I predect that Draco might help Harry and the gang but he would do it just to save his and his families neck, not because of the same reasons why Harry must fight Voldemort.

Even if he does help them I dont see him and The Trio being friends afterwards. Thare would still be hatred between them but they would be more civil towards eachother when the war is over.

Remember the 3 children born from which one would be the child of prophecy destined to defeat Voldemort? Well, we know Harry is one, and Neville is the 2nd. My guess is that Draco is the 3rd child, overlooked by Voldemort because his father is Lucius. I'm not saying Draco is the child of prophecy, but it's my guess that all three of the children have a part to play.

There were 3? I thought there were two? Which book was that said in?

Ive gotta start paying more attention...

I was also under the impression that Harry and Neville were the only ones the prophecy could have referred to.

I think in "Order of the Phoenix." I believe that Dumbledore mentioned there being 3 possible children, Neville being one of them, and Harry being the one of prophecy. Harry became the destined one because of what Voldemort did to his folks. As I recall, the third child was never mentioned by name. Maybe I misread it. I'll have to take a look after I get home from work.

Turns out I must have been mistaken. Malfoy wasn't born in the right month. Crap.

Not only that, but his parents hadn't defied Voldemort 3 times. Obviously.

Unless you count "Dark Lord! I can't bring you the soup right now because I have to wash out the Dementor's cages" as defiance! :p

Draco should get a horribly explicit death scene.

and that's the reason I think he'll redeem himself in some way. He's just been such a horrible bastard,(kind of like Snape) that I see him doing something worthwhile.

I think there will be some kind of parallel between Harry's father saving Snape, and Snape resenting him for it...and Harry saving Draco(or his father), and him resenting it, but feeling a sense of oweing Harry and finally doing the right thing.

but yeah, I don't see them as buddies after this.

edit: I thought the prophecy only mentioned 2 children, not 3...

I noticed something interesting when I was rereading book six a couple days ago. During the scene on the roof at the end of the book, when Malfoy has Dumbledore trapped, Dumbledore comes really, really close to converting Malfoy.

In fact, I'm willing to bet that if the Death Eaters hadn't shown up just then, Dumbledore would still be alive. I can definitely see either a full turnaround for Malfoy, or him secretly considering it in the future.

I noticed that too. Especially when Dumbledore said something about Draco not being a killer...he's right, Draco may be a sniveling, arrogant little punk, but he's not a killer.
