Recent discussion at millarworld of Forbe's magaizine's 15 richest fictional characters got me thinking... who are the richest characters in the Marvel Universe, and what are they worth?
Consider the following characters - I'm sure there are more - all of them seriously well-to-do to downright filthy rich:
The Fantastic Four
Ben Grimm/The Thing
Tony Stark/Iron-Man
Charles Xavier/Professor X
Namor (has the resources of the sea at his disposal, which may be, ironically, relatively illiquid)
Dr Doom (a monarch, so a little like Namor - has a country at his disposal, but perhaps not as liquid as the corporate billionaire-types?)
T'Challa/Black Panther (another monarch - as above?)
(Of course, some villains are undoubtedly wealthy, but it is hard to estimate the value of their illicit fortunes: eg what was the value of King Pin's crime empire at its height?)
Any thoughts?

The Fantastic Four, with the exception of Ben Grimm, are having trouble accessing their riches, from what I've heard. Emma Frost is also reasonably wealthy. T'Challa has control of a rare, valuable mineral (Vibranium), and is likely to be a very, very rich man.

There is a possibility that...aside from the people who rule countries as that might be a bit unfair.
Warren Worthington III is the wealthiest character.
Ignoreing the monachs, Xavier did once ask Warren to help him financially, Tony Stark and the member so f4 have at some point lost a lot of money. While Warren has remained at very very rich all the time.,

Seemed like the Red Skull must have had tons of money. Seemed like he was bankrolling plenty of menaces in the MU back in the Gruenwald days...

He was running the Watchdog, Resistant, Sweat Shop, Scourge, and ULTIMATUM groups, but I don't know if he was bankrolling them out of pocket.

The Constrictor is currently very wealthy.
But I think Dr. Doom is probably the wealthiest. He has the ability to build technology on the level of Reed Richards and acquire mystic items just behind Dr. Strange. That implies he has a chunk of change.

Shouldn't that mean he's even wealthier than we think if he didn't pay for his stuff? :p

Both Nighthawk and the company appeared in the latest Thunderbolts. He was getting robbed by Speed Demon at the time, so depending on how much he lost, he might not be as rich as some of the others.

Tony Stark lost nearly all his money once. In the 80's I think. so that's only really 5 years ago.
Warren ahs remained wealthy all the time.

and recently tony decided to disband the avengers due to lack of funds.
this does not mean he is broke, far from it, but tony does not have as much disposable wealth as he used to.
spent too much of it on 1874 merlot. a great year.
what about moon knight, where does he rank?

Most of Warren holdings were taken by Cameron Hodge when Warren was declared dead. It has taken him years to get Worthington Enterprises back when he returned as Archangel.
Other rich people:
Sebastian Shaw (basically anybody involved with the Hellfire Club)
Roberto DaCosta aka Sunspot

Ben Grimm is on par with Bill Gates right now. Stark lied about his wealth during Dissed, do we know where he stands? Richmond Enterprises WAS on par with Stark's at one point, but it doesn't get mentioned much anymore.
I still think Reed Richards has the greatest potential (short of said magical gold manufacturing) to be wrenchingly wealthy, but he doesn't pursue such things (although all of Ben's wealth is a fraction of what the FF actually had before losing it all to the Gov)
Wakanda's worth a pretty vibranium penny, and Doom must have cash beyond belief. They've never really shown where his flow comes from, but I'd imagine he has lots of third and forth party arms manufacturers that finance his needs.

That still doesn't make him rich.
That's like saying Franklin is rich, when it's his dad's money.

Grimm's wealth is fairly recent since JMS took over writing Fantastic Four.

A bunch of events conspired against the Fantastic Four all at once. For starters to get themselves out of the Latvarian mess they had to hand over a lot of Reed's patents to the government. Then the government took a chunk of change from them and canceled a lot of their funding. Then one of their money managers made off will a large amount of their wealth.
Fortunately for Ben he is not really related to Reed, sue, and Johnny. So his portion (16%) of Fantastic Four Enterprises was more or less untouched. He had never realized before now (other than in a vague sort of sense) that he had been accumulating that much wealth.
