There is a thread running on the x-boards about what marvel need to clear/clean up in 2006..... what do you guys think it should be...

For me personally i want to see Diamondback, a detailed story of where she has been and the re-introduction to her done properly.

Also the 3rd summers brother as mentioned on the x-board is a contender.

Looking forward to the birth of lukes and jess's baby also.

Silver surfer beating up the Sentry in a one-on-one.

Some superheros forgeting Spider-manīs secret identity.

Beta Ray Bill, Gravity and Titannus becoming showing what they can do outside their own titles, or in Titannusīs case MTU.

The New Avengers actually doing something.

The grand return of Taskmaster written by somebody good.

I've not followed the X's for a while, but hasn't Jean died so many times now that it'd be too much even for Marvel?

I'd like Thor back but in another guise.. someone OTHER than a teen finding Mjolner, maybe even an established MU character (Jim Rhodes, Steve Rogers, Maybe Rick Jones! :) ) and we could have a non-shakespear like Thor entity like T-Strike was. Heck, I'd take a character NAMED Mjolner who just basically is imbued with the residual power in the Hammer itself..transforming into a grey Uru skinned energy bolt throwing big mo-fo :evilsmile

Turn the FF over to Karl Kesel and let it be the fun action packed book it's supposed to be.

Those writers who are best suited to crime noir and street level tales would be assigned ONLY to books in their genres :)

An even keel in the Marvel Hype-Machine giving credit where credit is due for creative teams (least likely to happen)

The return of Illyana Rasputin

Polaris to be treated with a bit of respect

No cancellations of titles I enjoy

A battle between Cuddleface and Lockheed

The redemption of Northstar

A good revival of some of Marvel's horror characters, like Morbius, Werewolf By Night, and Man-Thing.

A new Namor title

Wonder Man has died even more often.

Yeah, but it's been established that he never really dies since he's an energy being. Just 'dispersed'. Is Jean Grey officially tapped into the Phoenix Force now in the same way (honest question, not being sarcastic) so that she'll never truely die?

-I'd like to see Scott Lang brought back and returned to the Avengers. His death ticked me off.

-I'd like to see Northstar redeemed and placed into a regular book. Probably one of the X-titles, but I wouldn't mind seeing him on a decent team of Avengers.

-House of M. Never happened (although I like the idea of the mutant gene being rare).

-I'd like to see Hawkeye return to the Avengers, or better yet, start his own team of Avengers (NOT a fan of NA). Northstar could join Hawkeye's team.

-I'd like to see Wolverine pick one team and stick with it. Hint: That team should not the New Avengers.

-Beast seems more like an Avenger to me, so I'd love to see him return to that team. In fact, maybe he could join Hawkeye's Avengers, too. :)

-I'd like to see an end to the mass killing-off of characters. If a writer doesn't want to use a character, um, don't use them. Killing off a character for shock value or whatever is getting old, and quite frankly isn't a shock anymore.

-In general, I'd like to see the writers respect the characters they're writing.

For me personally i want to see Diamondback, a detailed story of where she has been and the re-introduction to her done properly.

She was with SHIELD for a long while, recovering from the brain-fry that was done to her by Citizen V when he disabled the nano-probes that were controlling her. So that pretty much covers everything from her appearance in CV #1 up to her return in Kirkman's CAP storyline. Its just the gap from her last appearance in CAP vol.1 up to her appearance in the CV mini that is unaccounted for.

Currently she is in CABLE/DEADPOOL, reunited with the B.A.D. Girls! :) She also recently turned up in the HELLIONS miniseries, alongside Paladin, working for SHIELD.

I'd love to see more of Diamondback in 2006.

A second Avengers title with more classic team and feel.
More horror books, (Werewolf by Night, Blaze, Ghost Rider (Danny Ketch))
Like to see Brubaker keep up the good work on Cap.

I'd like to see more of Dazzler. It's nice that she's in New Excalibur and all, but I prefer her outside of the X-verse, and back in the mainstream MU. Put her on the New Avengers or something. I'd like to see Kitty Pryde have a bigger role in the X-Men...she's grown up, let her lead a team or something.

I would like to see Black Panther's continuity sorted out once and for all.

I would like for the new White Tiger (from Daredevil) to at least get her own Marvel Knights mini-series, hopefully leading to an ongoing. Failing that, I'd like a monthly Marvel Knights book that is sort of an anthology of stories about Marvel's b-list heroes.

What am I hoping for 2006?

1. No more deaths. It no longer shocks to see a death in the MU. It is now a tired plot device when a writer can't think of what to do next.

2. DC is planning to bring the joy of comics and the light and brightness back to their titles after One Year Later next year. Marvel needs to do the same thing. I'm all for grim and gritty titles, but this is getting ridiculous! Everything is so depressing! There is a reason that my favourite titles put out by Marvel in the last year were Defenders, She Hulk, GLA and Cable/Deadpool. They put the fun and wonder back into comics!

3. I want to see a new Avengers title come out as a companion to NA, featuring classic members with classic storytelling so everyone is happy.

4. I want Marvel to stop over hyping everything. It sucks all the joy out of the comics when you are told what to like. Let us discover things for ourselves sometimes and spend some of your hype budget promoting smaller titles like Gravity, Runaways and Marvel Team up instead of the thousandth Wolverine or Spiderman promo

5. I want to see the editors starrt doing their jobs. It is time for the editors to reign in the writers when they make glaring continuity errors. It is time for them to keep the titles from being just excessive, overindulgent vanity projects on behalf of the superstar writers. It is time for them to make it clear that late shipping titles are not an option anymore. (Of course when the company's own EIC can't get one measly mini series out in 2 years, I guess that says something.

These are the top 5 things I want to see done in 2006.

--A Cloak and Dagger miniseries or ongoing....
--An update on characters like the New Warriors, Slingers, Power Pack, etc....where are they? What are they doing? Can be shown in one of the mainstream titles.
--Avenger's Mansion rebuilt. They can keep their new tower too. Keep Cap, Cage, Spider-Woman, Iron Man. Have Jan and Hank(Pym) come back. Let Spidey go solo again. Ditto for Wolverine. Bring back Photon, Warbird, and Wonderman.

--Less X-mini-series, but tie what you would use as a miniseries into the main X-Books as a whole.

Agreed.

There is a reason that my favourite titles put out by Marvel in the last year were Defenders, She Hulk, GLA and Cable/Deadpool. They put the fun and wonder back into comics!
Eh, I'm not really seeing the Marvel "grim and gritty" ratio to be higher than the light hearted superhero stuff so I'll disagree with this one.

3. I want to see a new Avengers title come out as a companion to NA, featuring classic members with classic storytelling so everyone is happy.
You know, as much as I love New Avengers I have to agree with this.

There's something of a missing amount of action from New Avengers that should accompany the title given it's name so I think a more traditional Avengers title will be able to satisfy the people who want some old school romps. This has to be done well though, nothing half assed and bland since I think there should be a mix of Avengers and non-Avengers alike and the writing should be fun but serious such as Brian Vaughn in Runaways, Dan Slott's Spider-Man/Huan Torch (as well as some She-Hulk) Kirkman on MTU and Kurt Busiek's Avengers run.

Heh yeah I am becoming tired of Marvel's hype. I can't blame them for trying to hook people in but their use of hyperbole as of late is becoming almost ridiculous to the point of already giving us what the story is going to be and how it will affects us intead of letting the stories do the talking.

5. I want to see the editors starrt doing their jobs. It is time for the editors to reign in the writers when they make glaring continuity errors. It is time for them to keep the titles from being just excessive, overindulgent vanity projects on behalf of the superstar writers. I'll second that. Sadly, they'll never take Bendis off while it's still selling well. People need to stop buying it if we want to see changes. I've read that he plans to be on NA for at least five years, so the best we could hope for right now would be another Avengers title with a more old school feel. Which I will definately buy if they publish it.

----------------------------------

A decent Ghost Rider ongoing series (perhaps written by Steve Niles?)

The return of the supernatural/horror titles - Tomb of Dracula, Dr. Strange, Morbius, Werewolf by Night, Man-Thing, Son-of-Satan.

NO giant crossover events. HoM was a BIG disappointment. Marvel hasn't had a good giant crossover event since Secret Wars. Until they can figure out how do do one right, they should avoid these like the plague.

Keep Brubaker on Captain America!!

More Slott, Kirkman, Vaughan, Millar, and Brubaker. Less Bendis (and please keep him away from team books and crossovers). Keep the level of Ellis about right where it is.

Bring Vaughan's Ex Machina over to the Icon imprint.

In this new title he will try to come to grips with the fact that his people are dead, along with several of his fellow Avengers. And in the midst of all of this his place in the New Avengers might not be as needed as it once was, with Sentry in his place as Crowned King of Smackdown, if he would even want to be a part of the "new" team.

I want to see a drop in Canadian prices.

Marvel is still setting Canadian prices at a ridiculous rate of 1.41-1.44 for singles when the exchange rate is close to 1.15. I bought the 'Phoenix Endsong TP' yesterday and noticed that the price was 24.00 while the US price was 14.99...a rate of 1.60!!! Somebody at Marvel must have forgot that it's 2005...not 2002.

DC is only slightly cheaper...a 3.99 USD book will be 5.50 CAD from DC, while Marvel will charge 5.75.

Luckily I have a membership at my local comic store and get 20% off everything, (still too much for that Phoenix book), or I would never buy anything from there.

Anyway...I'd like to see:
-Apocalypse given some credibility when he returns
-Thanos as the central figure in 'Annihilation'
-Another Marvel/DC crossover
-A decent 'What if?' book
-The Living Tribunal (last we saw him getting pwn3d in 'The End')
-Magneto remain powerless at least until 2017...(j/k :D...I meant 2007)

In no particular order...just things I'd LIKE to see happen in 06'.

1. Writers pulled in by editors. No more "This is MY interpretation" only to be replaced by "Well this is MY interpretation" the next writer change. Continuity folks...not that hard to follow. I've only been reading comics seriously since 1990 or so...I don't need every hero ever have their origin's "TOLD AND RETOLD AND CHANGED AND TOLD AGAIN!!!!!!!" every half a year or so. If someone like me could understand everything that had happened up to that point, then I think anyone could.

2. The Avengers to be Earth's MIGHTIEST heroes. No more worthless heroes or writer loved heroes on the team. Put the best and most powerful on there. Cap, Ironman, and Thor are a start...Spidey is ok with me...but add on Photon (Pulsar? Monica Rambeau? Whatever she's called?), Dr. Strange, and the Hulk.

3. Return of Thunderstrike. Marvel wants a teen Thor? No problem. Ditch the "Young Avenger" doofus, and give Kevin Masterson his dad's old mace. Essentially you have your "Teen Thor" but with a character who has established background and possible interest to build upon with the whole "follow my father's legacy" thing going on.

4. No more shock killing. You hate a character and don't want to use them? Fine, they left the team/title/whatever. Simple and easy. Now when another writer who DOES like said character comes along, he/she can just pop them right back in with no lame "back from the dead!" story.

5. No more soap opera bullcrap. Gwen Stacy has been dead for what...30 YEARS?????? Did we really need a huge revelation about how she slept with Nerdman Osborn and had his babies just to give a lame background to two forgettable villains and tear down the whole "perfect woman" illusion? No, it was pointless and now...if some writer comes along and sees fit...that stupid story has to be reconned and more than likely, we'll get an even dumber story than the super aged babies story.

6. Thanos meeting his match and getting the hell kicked out of him at every turn. To meet someone more powerful, smarter, more cunning, and more devastating who just whips up on the "mad titan" and sends him crying like a little girl.

7. The return of Thor. No stupid human alter ego. No Ultimate Hippie Thor Wanna-be...just THOR....more powerful and better than ever.

Oh, that's a good one! Add that to my list as well, please!

No particular order:

-A second Avengers team book that mixes more "classic" Avengers with faster-paced stories. (If Pulsar can be in that team, awesome!)

-A She-Hulk book that stays away from all-out comedy(but retains humor), doesn't skimp on bone-crunching action, and features Shulkie battling cool villains. And if it's drawn by Frank Cho, Adam Hughes ,David Finch or Steve McNiven, cool!

-Jose Luis Garcia Lopez drawing Marvel comics.

-More diversity in comics, in a natural, non-forced way.
More females with solo titles, more females and minorities in superhero teams, more female villains created.

-The Return of Superia and Thundra.

I bet none of this things will actually happen, but hey, we were asked what we wanted to see...

You just described Dan Slott's She-Hulk run perfectly.

1- I want to see less "event crossovers" and more entertaining stories that don't need 20 other companion books to make sense.

2-Thor.

3-more horror books.

4-enough with the comedy comic books. Not every writer has Kirkman's talent to bring the funny.

5-More classic Avengers.

6-I want Quesada to be a little less hyperbolic with his announcements.
It seems that every new project he talks about will change the face of comics or blow people's minds away.

7-I want to see a return of the Bendis that wrote Alias, as opposed to the Bendis that wrote Avengers Dissassembled.

Don't. Just don't. It'll turn into an argument, I've tried.

Me?
More Slott, Kirkman, McKeever, Nicieza, Heinberg, Vaughan and Whedon.
That is all.

I want an ongoing Defenders series by the same creators who are doing the current Defenders mini, Giffen/DeMatteis/Maguire. And I want some of the 2nd string Defenders like Hellcat, Valkyrie, Overmind, Gargoyle, Devil Slayer, and Son Of Satan, to be on the team as well.

I'd actually like to see them do a mini of Champions of LA, maybe that takes place in the past.

For 2006? hmm what do I want...

1. New Villians, I mean honestly we all like a bit of Doctor Doom or Kang but how many times can Spider-Man fight Doc Ock or Electro and make it seem fresh or orginal.

2. More Supernatural themed comics, there doing an galactic theme in 2006 thing so I suppose an Supernatural thing would be cool.

3. Stop overhyping everything it's really annoying when we're told "We won't believe our eyes when someone comes back to the dead" only really to be let down.

4. Alriight we understand he has claws but is Wolverine really THAT great. Now in the Avengers it gives him a great excuse to pop up in well almost every comic going.

5. Some form of Common Sense when making a new series. Howling Commandos is awful. Megamorphs...was alright did give an good excuse to have Red Ronin pop up I suppose.

6. Stop being so Reactionary, just because DC has this does'nt mean you have to. Be the leader for a change do somthing new and unique instead of simply following the trend.

7. Better interaction with your fans, where's the Marvel.com message board?

8. More MAX titles, we can understand why Spidey would'nt but Wolverine? The guy has claws and drinks alot don't tell me he does'nt swear and well do rather grumseone things. He's not exactly a role model for children is all let us see him outside the PG-13 world.

At least there the ones I can think of right now.

Punisher

1.Hawkeye to remain dead (I like him but he doen't need to be brought back to life)
2.More Max (I think Punisher is the only one left after Supreme Power moves to Marvel Knights)
3.Pulse to turn back into Alias (I do like Pulse though just not as much)
4.Fewer alternate covers
5.Ultimate Thor mini series
6.Move Elektra to Max
7.New villians
8.New heroes
