I am conducting an informal survey, and I will be posting similar questions in some of the other forums. The question is, who is the best Martial Artist(s) in the Marvel Universe for each of the four catagories..

1. Human, no weapon
2. Non-Human, no weapon
3. Human, with weapon
4. Non-Human, with weapon

Notes: For Human, most mutants fall under the catagory of Human. For Non-Humans, along with the standard catagorys of aliens, demons, monsters, gods and other Non-Human species; mixed breeds who are no more than 50% Human can fall under the heading of Non-Human.

No weapon refers to martial art forms that are not weapon dependent. With weapon refers to the weapons commonly associated with martial arts, including swords. No guns or similar types of more modern weapons.

What about Bob Diamond? Karnak? I understand that Wolverine and Kitty Pryde as supposed to be strong martial artists. And then there is Viper, and Psylocke would get some consideration.

Is Karnak really that great of a fighter though on par with Daredevil and Cap? While he's a pretty capable fighter, at the same time he seems to mainly rely on the stress points to get through. Not too sure about Bob Diamond though as I'm not too familiar with the character.

As for the usual list I'd say:

Daredevil
Shang Chi
Iron Fist
White Tiger
Taskmaster
Captain America
Wolverine
Bullseye
Mystique
Black Panther
Hawkeye
Stone
Stick
Elektra
Psylocke
Gamora
Echo

Some of them kind of cheat like Taskmaster and Echo with their photographic, more choreographed moves while others have a power advantage such as Iron Fist and White Tiger who use both the iron fist and white tiger amulets to enhance their combat abilities.

It's hard to pick the very best one but I sincerely beleive Daredevil is the best hand to hand/martial arts combat fighter in the MU which is pretty damn good especially for a blind man.

I would love to see a good, issue-long fight between Black Panther and Daredevil. Damned if I can think of who to write it though...I definitely would want Maleev on pencils though. Maybe Priest writing? He's said before that he always wanted to write Daredevil.

"Best Martial Artist in the MU"? I would say Mantis; she has beaten Cap, Thor, Black Panther, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Vision, and Scarlet Witch in hand-to-hand combat. The Avengers pretty much hold her up as the fighter to beat in outright hand-to-hand (discounting props like shields, hammers, bow & arrows, etc).

Champion of the Universe

5 billion years of training, learning every martial art in the known universe.

But even with all that he couldn't beat She-Hulk. That guy was way overrated.

As for the best fighter in Marvel... Mantis.

Not so really, since Starlin wrote him, the Champion has been reduced to a cosmic version of the Hulk, relying more on strength than skill to win his matches. Big shame really.
