DC Comics is changing a lot of creative teams with their "Infinite Crisis" series and one of note is the emergence of Adam Beechen as the new writer of "Robin." CBR News spoke with the scribe to learn more about what's going on with the Teen Wonder.

I get the feeling the "I can't tell you who's behind the mask" line is just an overarcing editorial decree. You know, like DiDido said "Okay, we're going to change one or two people but we want to generate a lot of buzz, so don't tell anyone outside of this room who is going to be who after Infinite Crisis. Most of them won't change at all but we want to make them wonder."

I dunno, I suppose it's possible that they'll replace one of the main Teen Titans and Batman supporting members abruptly and have a shocking moment that we'll actually care about only four pages in and do this all in a way we won't be cynical over even after that whole Spoiler thing. But I have my doubts.

In any event, I'm happy it's getting a new writer. Here's hoping.

Well, this should be great! I mean any change to the Bat-books tend to be positive right!?!?

It seems that way, doesn't it? Subvert!

Change is neither good nor bad, change simply is. However, given the recent stories in Robin and what I've read of the characterization I, personally, think any change is likely to be for the better. Granted Tim Drake could get his own Devin Grayson, but I doubt it.

Plus the JLU books have been good. Not really anything with substance but then that's not what the Johnny DC line is about. :)

I'm pretty sure that the OYL Robin is still going to be Tim. Beechen mentions that the "Hollywood pitch" for the book would be 'Teenage CSI' and if that's not Tim Drake I don't know what is. Dick Grayson was primarily an acrobat and Jason Todd a fighter, Tim Drake is chiefly a detective and has been a more cerebral sidekick while still being quite physically adept. It just fits...

Adam Beechen has kicked MAJOR tuckus on JLU, so it is nice to see him "rewarded" with a DCU book.

Should be great.

His take sounds like he actually did some research on Tim instead of the drek Willingham is inflicting on us Robin readers. I'm looking forward to his run, and with Karl Kerschl doing the pencils, instead of static McDaniel, Robin is back on my pull-list

Great article, Arune!

I'm looking forward to Breechen's Robin. I love his writing on JLU. I trust that he'll make this book kick-butt fun!

Looks like Tim to me. The new costume is pretty cool too...

Hrm, that cover's art style reminds me of Scott's, which isn't really a good thing. Still, it's better than the worst cover ever (http://www.dccomics.com/media/covers/2524_400x600.jpg) (in my opinion) and it's only a cover. Still, seems to be moving towards the Teen Titans Go style.

Still, nice new colors.

I have never read Robin very much. I read him only in the Bat books when he does appear. Is there much do you think I should know before getting into the new Robin series?

What drew me to this article was Karl Kershcl. He is one of my favorite artists and his work on Adventures of Superman and Majestic was amazing superhero art. This man is one of the best and most underrated in the biz.

Beechen is an unknown element to me. I have never been exposed to his writing, having not read JLU. His take, the Teen Superhero-CSI, sounds quite interesting and a nice change of pace to Willingham's mediocre two year run.

This book deserves to be an A-List title and this team could make it so. Kershcl is hot right now and Beechen could be a young up-and-comer in the industry. Here's to hoping. I can't wait.

Yeah, I'm liking everything I've seen and heard so far, from the "Teen CSI" angle to the big twist on page 4. (What is it? Damnit, my nose is twitching!)

Yeah, Kerschl is a great fit for this title, though I'm mildly worried about his ability to do a monthly, as his work on ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN has been really sporadic. And Beechen just submitted the first draft of his first script? I would've thought they'd be further ahead than that.

The redesign is...hmm. While I think taking away the green takes away one of the "iconic" elements of the Robin costume, and the "R" seems to have lost its style and shuriken-ness, I can get over those things. The cape, however - eek. I get that it's probably supposed to be evoking bird feathers, but that's just not pretty.

Don't think its going to be Tim for OYL Robin. Since Infinite Crisis, Earth 2 Robin has popped up all over the freaking place. I think that's who it might be for Beechen's run.
