It doesn't seem like they will include the widescreen version.

About time.
I´m tired of the Swedish dub of Justice League.

WOO HOO! I can finally catch up on all I missed (which was most!)

JLU'll come in time... if they keep doin 'em quick (like Batman Vol. 4 and Superman Vol. 2 on the same day this week) we could get JLU Season 1 & 2 (hopefully as one collection) in 2007.

Which kind of sucks. It doesn't suck enough not to buy the sets.

Still I can't wait. Batman Beyond too (still not keen on only 13 episodes on that set though).

They'll probably start coming out next year. Theyll probably do three sets for JLU.

I'm at a loss as to why they're not including the widescreen version.

Which leads me to another question. I don't own any of the Superman or Batman boxes yet but does anyone know if any of the episodes were filmed widescreen? I think Superman was but I'm not 100% sure on that.

I see that the Superman box sets included full frame.

i don't believe that any of them were filmed in widescreen though i could be mistaken on that. they may have been presented in widescreen at some point but often that just involves croping the frame at the top and the bottom to make it fit the widescreen format.

it's a shame about the JL episodes as i believe those were actually done in widescreen originially, though i might be mistaken.

I'm not sure. I've seen the full screen episodes and it's not a big enough difference to ruin the show. But it'd be nice they allowed people to have an option.

^^^^

agreed, options are always good. the problems with these collections is that they need to have enough to please the long time, hardcore fans while still being barebones enough to be affordable for parents to get their kids.

i've really enjoyed the commentaries on the Superman and Batman sets and hope to see more of those, alot more of those. my only recommendation is to not do another video commentary like they did on the "Mxysptlikated" episode in the Superman vol.2 set.

i stand corrected. the Justice League episodes were indeed originally presented in widescreen and later cropped to fit the full frame format. there's a petition floating around here about having the JL episodes put out in their original widescreen format.

i'd suggest people add their names to it.

I remember that when JL aired, they aired it in full frame then had encores of the widescreen version around 1 am. JL for sure I know was filmed in widescreen.

a bunch of people prefer full screen for a number of reasons ranging from a belief that it's a more complete picture to a dislike of the black bars across the top and bottom of their screens. it's why they still release widescreen and fullscreen versions of movies or at least include the option.

why they're not doing it in this case i don't know...

Now is says that the first season widescreen was created by matting the fullframe image by covering the top and bottom to create widescreen. That does not count as true widescreen, which ever one has the original entire picture is what needs to be shown, widescreen is required for the other seasons as it was animated in widescreen.
Agreed. I have no beef now that I read that article Grant posted.

I just hope WHV does right and release the following seasons in widescreen.

As I posted in another related thread, Season 1 will be full-frame but Season 2 and beyond will be in widescreen.

Reported by TVShowsonDVD.com, confirmed by WB.
