The mayor's kid, along with all those other kids at the birthday party, and the mayor's wife, have all died. The mayor is hating himself because he was actually happy when he first heard about this crisis because it guaranteed a reelection. He goes to give a press conference, and just says, "Nighthawk, please kill the bastard" and shoots his brains out.

Nighthawk is investigating a crime scene, and scares the hell out of a crackhead. He begins to follow some leads based on the coke shipment he thinks was used to make this crack, and thinks that this is all an elaborate revenge scheme designed to get back at the mayor for corrupt ties to that one judge. The commissioner says he's relieved to hear that, because he can understand hate or revenge, but he was beginning to think that maybe someone simply did all this because they liked it (great shot of Binst looking psycho as hell here).

Nighthawk finds Binst's lab, and comes across a dead body, when suddenly he gets ambushed by Binst and sprayed with poison gas. He vomits and blacks out in a pool of blood.


Nice issue. Very, very dark, as I've come to expect, but it was nice to see Nighthawk doing some real detective work and using Batman style tech.

nighthawk puking in his mask was crazy. is this series 5 issues or 6? the cover says 4/6, but at the end it said to be concluded.

Another good, though throughly repugnant, issue. The images of the maggots on the guy in the bathtub will haunt me for a loooooong time to come. Bleech...

how was he about to see the guy in the tub though? if he was dead long enough for maggots to eat his eye, he wouldn't be warm enough to show up on infared.

i think you missed the point.
up until that point everyone associated with the crack has been found shot through the head. hawk goes out following up a lead to another person that might have been involved with the drugs. he gets there sees the mark on the floor kicks on the x-ray, and sees a dead body, he is now thinking this must be another dealer with a hole in the head, he walks in sees that its maggot filled, (which prob. means its the first body that was killed), he throws up.... so on and so forth.

point is he found the person he was looking for, he didnt know that someone else is behind the killings.

Extrapolating on that point, Nighthawk ain't Batman. Far from perfection. Batman wouldn't have puked up in his mask. Goddamn that seen was brutal.

I was wondering about that too.

The explenation I came up with was that being in a bath of blood kept his body warm. That and the body wasn't there for like months on end. The Clown probably killed him then poured maggots onto him. Just 'cause.
