I'm going to Disneyland, obviously, but what's up with you and your loved ones?

We see my mother (we live in the same city as my parents) and my sister on Christmas Eve (sister flying in from Vancouver). We go to Christmas Breakfast at my father's (tradition with us, though this time we're going to digust everyone by having our own, tofu 'scrambled eggs' - they're awesome). We head back to my mother's for Christmas Dinner, then spend the week between Christmas and New Year's Day relaxing and visiting friends.

I'm very, very much looking forward to it.

My wife is coming down from Toronto to Florida to see me. We'll be going over to Walt Disney World on Christmas morning, and staying a couple of nights. She'll be here from December 21st to the 3rd of January. It'll be great, since I have only seen her for 5 days since I moved down here in early September. And, we honeymooned at WDW, so it is a pretty special place for us, even beyond its inherent fun factor.

I was supposed to go up to Colorado for five days to visit my mom but since they laid off my entire department except for me, I am not sure if I can get the vacation time because there is nobody to cover for me.

Going to lay back and relax with my girl, visit friends and family, and just get prepared for next semester's events.

Go with immediate family down to Grandmother's house for the Christmas, where most of my family will be (Aunts, Uncles, cousin etc.).
Then spend a week at home............I love still being in school (holiday-wise anyway.)

We're expecting our second child on the 20th .... so the answer is both "lots" and "not much". :)

I'm going around the globe to see how many fellow YABS posters I can observe and film having their Christmas dinners without them noticing. Then, I'll make a music video set to Hansen's Um Bop and post it on my online blog.....

What?

Ok, so We'll actually spend Christmas Eve with my wife's mom and step-dad. Open presents w/them on Christmas morning. Go to my wife's Grandma's at noon. Go to her dad's after that. Then, my parents are coming over to our house and we'll open presents and eat a Christmas dinner w/ them. I'm all excited, b/c it'll be our first Christmas in our new house, and we're making the meal. (Why do I picture National Lampoons film crews coming in for a shoot?).

Sometime before Christmas, I've got at least 3 other Christmas parties to go to, and a breakfast w/work.

Peace.

Also, I'm going to take a long drive and look at all the different Christmas lights and decorations.

I also plan on watching a lot of Christmas movies. I've already watched Polar Express, Surviving Christmas, Christmas Vacation 1 and 2 (don't watch the 2nd one, please). I'm going to watch Frosty 1 and 2, Rudolph, Little Drummer Boy, Christma w/the Kranks, Mirracle on 34th Street, It's a Wonderful Life, The Santa Clause 1 and 2, and any others I can get my hands on!!!

Wait, your wife is in Toronto and you're in Fl? May I ask why?

Gail

It's been a long term goal of mine to live here in FLA. I love it here. My wife also likes it here a great deal, and thinks we would benefit from a change. She also hates crowds, making Toronto a good place to get away from.

However, I am an American citizen (born in Detroit, but raised in Toronto since a VERY early age) so my move down here was quick and painless (or at least as painless as a 26 hour drive spread over 3 days with two cats in the car can be). The paperwork for my wife is going to take another 10 months or so, unless we can find some way to rush it.

So, here we are, 2500 miles apart. I made it "home" for 5 days over Thanksgiving and explained that I was at that point where when I am here in FL, Toronto is "home" and when I am in Toronto, FL is "home." At that, my wife said about the greatest thing I have ever heard. "For me, home is somewhere I haven't even seen yet." She's made it clear over the phone many times that she is ready to go and start again down here. That comment really drove it home for me. We are starting over, but it's a great place to do it.

And, living only an hour from Walt Disney World, I'll have no shortage of visitors.

I'll be spending time in NYC with the functional portion of the extended family (my wife's people), and doing the following three things to excess:

(1) drinking
(2) eating
(3) buying books and comics

Congrats on impending arrival, Outlander!

I'm making my annual 200 mile Guilt Trip to visit my family upstate. Going back to that small town drives me nuts in so many ways. I'm cramped back into my old room where I feel like I'm that scared little 8 year old. I'm in-between generations; everyone near my age is either a few years older or a few years younger, so I really don't have anyone to talk to. I won't have computer or internet access.

On the plus side, I'll get to play with my adorable black lab, and enjoy hundreds of digital cable channels.

I usually visit my aunts in the backwaters (Millport - a village on a nearby island and Dunoon - a small town across a peninsula) and then have Christmas at home with my Mum and Dad.

Roast Beef as usual...

Huge tree...

Crap TV on BBC...

Ah Christmas!

Mmm, not much. Mostly call relatives (can't travel; too expensive) and wish them Happy Holidays. Watch my new B:TAS/S:TAS DVDs, tool around on my computer, e-mail some people, read Alan Moore's The Ballad of Halo Jones...

Christmas is gonna be a bit blue this year.
First Christmas without my dad.
My boyfriend can't be here until mid January.
The courts will probably be too slow to force my niece's mother to let my brother see his daughter over the holidays.

Pip - Sorry to hear that you won't have as much to celebrate as you might otherwise this Holiday Season. Obviously, from my earlier post, I know what it is like to be away from the one you love. All the other stuff on top of that... well, I hope the good thoughts of a (more-or-less) stranger can do something to make your holidays a little brighter.

Outlander - Congratulations on the new addition.

Well, since I run a Toy Department for the world's largest retailer, I'm gonna put in about 60 hours that week and be too tired to do much else. I won't have the time to head out of town to my family since I have to be back at work at 6am the morning after I'll call the family and spend Christmas Day with friends.

It'll be a quiet and peaceful day. Which is nice between the horrors of last minute shoppers and day after returns.

With a bunch of kids, and tons of relatives local we will be doing like four christmas get-togethers. I am also throwing a baby shower the day after christmas for a friend who will only be in town for six days. Disneyland is sounding good right about now!

I get to pretend for 24 hours that I actually give a darn about my evil extended family.

EEEEEVIL, I says!

I also get to remind myself why I have put off getting knocked up when my brother lets his brood have free reign over the house.

I work a third shift job as well and very hard on your body. You never get used to it but soon I’ll graduate school and that will be it. As far as what I’m doing I plan on working and studying.

Awww Gail's going to be down here at Disneyland, and I'll be in Indianapolis for a week. (with probably a 60 degree difference). Lived in CA for 6 years, and STILL haven't gotten to Disneyland! LOL!

Getting back, I'll be working non-stop on the upcoming Daily Planet collection.

My niece and her maternal grandparents are coming up from Georgia for a week beginning December 23rd.

My niece is 6 and this will be her first Xmas here. We'll be going to my aunt's house on Xmas Eve for the big family gathering.

I'll be at my parents' house to unwrap the gifts w/ my siblings (and their kids & husband/wives). Not being married or have kids yet, I enjoy seeing my nephew (he's two and a half) react to the gifts. Last year, he gave out the gifts one-by-one to whoever it belonged to (it took a while--there were a lot of presents). That was the best though. This year will be my other nephew's first Christmas.

Later that day/night, I'll be in Baltimore with my friends catching a Ravens game. I haven't seen my one friend for a couple of months because he's been at boot camp (Army reserves), so it'll be nice to see him.

The only bad thing is that my one sister and her husband won't be there, as they will be at his parents' home for the holidays (in Arizona). We're doing that pollyanna/Secret Santa thing-- but I'm hers. She'll be in town a few days after (her birthday), so she'll get her gift then. I can't wait to give it to her because she's going to love it. I'm a really good gift giver--something I excel at.

Congrats Outlander, I guess you are going to have one of the best (slightly early) Christmas presents ever! (Cliche alert)

Anyway, on the 20th, my wife gets done with combat training for the Marines and gets to come home, so I (on my 18 year old college student money) have to drive to North Carolina (from Michigan) and get her (alot of gas $$$). We will probably get home just in time for Christmas, enjoy the holiday with our respective families, eat too much, and just enjoy being together after another month apart.

I will also start to prepare for the upcoming semester in college (I am a freshmen so I am still a bit overwhelmed). I will also catch up on the comic reading I have not had the time for, and will eat way too much and watch the new Aqua Teen DVD on X-Mas day (a tradition, last year I got the 3rd season and watched the whole thing on Christmas and the year before I got the 1st season and watched that all X-Mas day).

I don't have any plans for 'The Holidays', but for Christmas I've got to hit the parents' house and the in-laws (which means lots of collared-old-man shirts, woo-hoo!).

The best part? Turkey.

While I was initially worried that my niece would be waking us up very early on Xmas morning, my mom was talking to her grandmother counterpart in Georgia and it turns out my niece is not a morning person.

Hopefully that means I'll be able to sleep in.

This weekend the 17th my Aunt is having her annual holiday bash. I mean literally almost every one that comes ends up spending the night because they are to trashed. Christmas getting up opening gifts, eating a big breakfast and having friends and family over that night. I love the holidays.

I spent the last three years at Disneyland on Christmas, but that's a bit distant for this year. I suspect we'll end up at either DisneyWorld or Universal Orlando this year, but Emily hasn't told me exactly what we're doing yet, so that it'll be a surprised.

We've plotted out our Christmas so strategically, it's like war.

Christmas Eve is for spending with the girlfriend and midnight mass. I'm not religious in any way, but mum likes to go so we usually head to one with a couple of friends of ours. Annnnnd we usually only stay about 10 minutes, because try as they might, Julie and mum can't help but giggle at the church robes.

Christmas morning will be spent at the cousins' place, breakfast included.

Mid-morning will see us at my Grandparent's house, especially since Grandma can't leave the house much anymore and won't be able to make it to the cousin's.

That afternoon we drive up to Maroochydor for the night, because some friends have a few beach houses up there to use. So drinking and partying for all! I'll probably come home early the next day because of work, but the rest of the family will be staying for a few more days. And hella damn, I'll be seeing Narnia when it opens on Boxing Day too.

My sister and Dad have already been there, and my Mum and Gran are the only one's who haven't been to Africa. So we're crashing at my sister's friend's house. :)

The 17th has me going to a tree trimming party and its pretty much work from today until Jan. 4, 2006. Yeah, I'm working Christmas Eve and Chirstmas Day but I said I'll work it since I'm trying to be nice to my co-workers. Seriously, what's a Jew going to do on Christmas.... eat Chinese, catch a movie and take a nap. Might as well get paid for it (Double Time on the 24th and triple time on the 25th....nice!). Sundown the 25th, I'll spend with my brother and his family for the first night of Hannukah.

Gotta make the cash to spend the cash on the people you love.

Don't know exactly which club I'm going to spend my New Years at.
