NBC has seemingly lost its patience with its slipping " Must See Thursday " lineup. After 2 years of slipping ratings and the Network seeing Apprentace falling by the wayside the Network has jerked Joey off of Thursdays and theres no timetable for its return. ( Tuesdays are rumored).

Meanwhile a show thats pretty much made NBC fall in love is " My Name is Earl " and " The Office " have been given the 9pm/9:30 timeslots. With W & G being moved to 8pm .

It doesn't shock me. Joey has been slipping for months now and the writing on the show got worse. The show couldn't decide whethor Joey would be a dumb loveable loser or a great actor. The supporting cast were good but miss-used.

Well, NBC would have to buy out the contracts for Joey in order to end production now (I do believe the show was contracted for two years). So it would actually be more expensive to cancel the show now instead of just producing the rest of season 2.

But yeah, I'd guess this is it for Joey. That's gotta be a disappointment since they so desperately thought it would be a hit.

I never watched Joey or Friends so I don't really care.

Earl and The Office are really great shows though. Hopefully they will continue. They are going up against some pretty big shows and both are still relatively new. (This may be the 2nd season of The Office but the first season only had six episodes.)

Good-bye Joey, I hope your acting career gets off the ground. I'm speaking to you too Matt LeBlanc.

Joey isn't gone. It'll be back in March, after NBC airs the olympics, probably moving to Tuesday night.

But I wish they'd keep Earl and the Office where they were. I LOVE those shows, and it's good keeping them on fairly early in the week, giving you something to look forward to. Thursdays are just delaying the laughter.
(What's so special about Thursdays being best for comedy?)

NBC is more than likely not going to renew Joey; otherwise, his show would be a lead-in to the Olympics.

I like his manager, the lady with the huge chest. The only funny thing on the show.

I am not saying that Joey is NOT going to be cancelled, but in general TV sense, it is the shows AFTER the Olympics that are the ones getting the network's attention.

So NBC could very well be using the Olympics to pump up Joey for its return, post Olympics.

I think what really hurt " Joey " was that fans just never had a reason to watch. There wasn't a good love interest and the supporting charactors who had talent were wasted.

If anything they should have begged, pleaded and tried to get Aniston to be in this with LeBlanc. I think her and LeBlanc could have saved this spin-off .

NBC didn't have a concept for Joey. It was clear from the beginning that they were trying to re-create Friends and as I've said before, they ended up with After M.A.S.H.! I think if it had occurred to them to take Joey, and say Gunther, and move the two of them to LA as struggling actors (remember Gunther used to be on a soap too!), then it might've worked. Joey needs a buddy like Chandler to bounce off of, and he never found one in this sad death camp of comedy.

I'm still hoping that Matthew Perry gets a part in Aaron Sorkin's "Studio 7 on the Sunset Strip".

Well yeah, I know it doesn't really have anything to do with "Joey", but what should I do? Start a new thread just to say that? Hmmm?

Agreed...they really didn't have the " smart " type who could play off LeBlanc. Thats why I thought they should have opened the bank for Aniston as LeBlanc's smart steady gf. Also that final episode of Friends did nothing to promote "Joey " eithor. Your doing a spin-off. At least use the final episode to set up the next series.

Yes, adding Gunther Central Perk would have been great. I might have watched past the pilot then.
