I figured some other CBRians might want to see this...
woot.com has a 250 GB Western Digital HD (refurb) for 54 bucks after shipping.
I just bought one. Now my box will have a 250, a 125(should be a 160, but it got messed up) and two 80s.
That's a whole lotta files. Maybe I can finally get some video editing done!
Anyway, just wanted to point it out for anyone else who might be needing a new HD.

I think I'll do that. Last week I dropped my external sending it off to HDDHeaven, so I need to replace it. Good deal. Thanks.

If you see 256 MB of PC100 RAM, lemme know.

Well, then order away.
Woot's a neat site, but then tend to sell out by noon EST.
I have to get in the habit of checking it every day.

My system SHOULD be able to run 133Mhz chips... I just dunno.
If you could check, that would rock!
Need anything yourself? I have some smaller SD cards kicking around.

If you know the manufacturer of your motherboard that should tell you. I think you can mix 100 and 133, but the 133s will run at 100.
I think I'm set for the time being. I want to buy myself a new motherboard and processor, but that has to wait until the holidays are over.

It's an Apple G4 500. The problem is that all the Mac sites seem to say PC 100, but I could SWEAR at least two of the chips in mine are PC 133.

The only one I have laying around is a PII. Doubt that would interest you.
Hmm... you don't have a DVD drive or an old laptop HD laying about...?
I should start a tech trading thread!

I'm ditching all my older PCs (PIIs and PIIIs). My current workstation is an AMD Athlon 1.5 (I think). Still running well and I don't really neeeeed the newer components, but I've had this thing for a few years now. It's my scheduled time to upgrade.
I don't think we have any DVD drives or laptop hdds laying about, but I'll check. The trading thread isn't a bad idea.

I don't see a reason why not. These are nothing spectacular. I think the fastest is a 600Mhz. They were basically lab computers I used to learn various technologies.

Well, my wife is receiving a re-enlistment bonus. Half of her upfront pay will be used to pay off her car, buy us a new bed, some for savings, and if we have anything left over I hope to use it for a new board and processor.
I haven't even touched a Mac since I left my job at Savannah State about five or six years ago. I've thought about one from time to time. I wouldn't miss much by ditching the PC, though I do play a few games that I don't know if I can get with a Mac.

Macul, if those are avilable I will love you forever.
I can add them to my eMac and have a gig of RAM.
Then I just need to find a 256 for my tower and I'll have two systems with a gig of RAM. Wheee.

I forgot you are a Mac guy! sorry, I know next to nothing about the inner workings of a mac. Except that they look fairly similar to pc's on the inside. I dunno I took apart one mac, never put it back together and almost had an stroke from dealing with the monitor being built in.

They look similar because they are similar. Seriously.
If you have any 256 (since Macul handled the 512s I hope) I'd be willing to trade you.
Hey, could anyone use a laptop HD enclosure? I have one. Propreitary format with a dead ten gig drive inside, but if you were to put a new drive in it, it'd worklike I charm. I used to carry the drivers on a 16 MB thumbdrive and carry all the apps I needed for work on it. Took a bad fall one day.

If Macul can score me those 512s, then i cna use the 256 from the eMac in my server.
However, the offer for the HD enclosure stands.

If you dont mind ill gotten goods I am the Tech guru for my school so I can always "secure" some 128-256 sticks of 133. I may even be able to get a 100 if you need it. But I dont really think it will come to that as I already have quite a collection at home. So if the 512s dont come through I will see what I can do.

Update: Got the drive... found out my Mac tower only supports 128 GB max. Fixed that. Then was puzzled because the Mac was seeing the drive in Disk Utility, but not initilizing it.
Brought it to work. Tested the hell out of it.
She's DOA.
Woot only gives cash back, so I'm now going to be shopping for a drive.
