It was interesting to see Rich mention that Stephanie Fierman never got how we Brits carry on at conventions here. You would assume she would have at least been told what taking the piss means.
Does this mean the days of DC people buying massive rounds in the bar are gone?

Joking aside, it seems very odd that a DC employee should act like this, as Rich says they've used Britain as a recruiting ground for over 20 years and we've given them talent and sales which have made DC money. So very odd.

I guess i best not pitch my idea of a nude DC Comics creators calender to her in May at Bristol then...

Well, I've only been to Wizard World East in Philadelphia, but I'd imagine the behavior from "professionals" wherever the convention takes place, is pretty much the same. Exactly how many lesbian jokes during a panel presentation is needed? I always read about how people get drunk every time at one of these things too. Fierman, geez I don't know, probably expects a level of professionalism from the DC staff and other creators/publishers that attend. They are business trips after all.

There's a lot of difference between British and American conventions. For one creators mix more with fans before, during and after the programme of events. Plus there's a lot more boozing and piss taking going on.
I found American conventions full of fans who take questions like "how long is Batmans cape" seriously.
Plus many of the creators here are either freelance or have made DC a very, very, very large amount of money, so they're not bound by whatever DC corporate rules Fierman thinks should apply.

Or basically, she needs to chill.

Sounds like culture-clash to me.
