I guess I'm just a cynic, likening the whole kaboodle to the sword of Damocles. While retcons are useful for weeding out the crap, too often they can be used to erase years of quality character development.

Though in the examples you list above, you make a very valid point. Rules lawyering can go a long way towards protecting the integrity of said items.

For some time now, I've been wanting to write fanfiction. I'm signed into FF.net and all, but I guess I'm a bit nervous. See, my computer lacks Microsoft Word (I just have Word Pad), so I lack speel check and various other things. I'm also not quite sure how to do the whole Title and Summery thing with any Fanfic I write, thogh I do understand how to upload it from my computer.


I have an Idea for a Naruto fanfic, and I wanted to post the first chapter or so here, so that you all could review it and tell me what you think.


The premise is that there exists several timelines/universes wherin Naruto exists. However, in one such universe, a creature of extreme power was born. This creature was amazingly strong, and it destroyed the Hidden Leaf Village. However, the creature, while powerful, was also unbalanced and quite insane. It slaughtered all in it's path, until everything in it's world was destroyed. Even then, the bloodlust wasn't sated. The creature spent decades alone, becoming more insane, but also more balanced. It could reason and rationalize to an extent. If all were dead in this world, what about other such worlds? With the idea of traveling to another world were it could continue the slaughter, it spent another two decades developing a jutsu that would allow it to jump into another timeline/universe. And thus, its destruction continued anew.


When the first chapter starts, however, the creature will be three years away from arriving. Who does arrive, however, are three mysterious men, each looking vaugly similiar to a certain blond haired and loud mouthed Ninja. One ia an older man with one arm and a scarred face. The other is younger, has glasses, and wears an off white cloak. The last one is just in his twenties, and has a sword strapped to his back. What are they here for, and what do they want with Naruto?
