It's big part of it yeah, but mainly you have to make your land fertile again, find jewels to unlock matching doors, and try and appease the 'Fire Spirit' so it doesn't make the island your living on go 'Boom'.

I've only met the Water Spirit (I think), and I've got to find the Sprite of Memory so I can find the Forest Spirit, to give him(/she/it) the Forest Crest so it unblocks the way to the Lake Tower were the Hermit is waiting for me. Dunno after that. ><

Then there was something about flowers helping to find the SoM???

Yes, good thing you are given a buggy which gives you a much bigger area to move about in less time than by foot.

Makes more interesting, and less repetative, which most Harvest Moon game are prone to doing.
